Passaic GOP endorses Pennacchio for U.S. Senate

Passaic County Republicans endorsed Joseph Pennacchio for U.S. Senate tonight – the first contest since the publication of a controversial nationalist manifesto that he wrote seventeen years ago.  Pennacchio has represented a part of Passaic County in the Legislature since 2001.

Say No to Pennacchio

Pennacchio can't beat Lautenberg because he is basically the same as everyone else who ran aggainst Lautenberg.  Not only that, but the Repbulican party is much weaker this time, and we're talking about NJ... democrat state.  If anyone can do it, it's Sabrin because he has recieved more support from inpependats and has raised a lot of money.  I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the next county... hopefuly people start getting smart.

A Non-Story

I think this endorsement speaks to the fact that outside of a very small minority of people who actually pay close attention to the political world, most people do not know about the manifest and will not take the time to read it.  The story that broke yesterday was buried in today's paper and is really of little consequence.

Sure, Sabrin supporters are going nuts, but Sabrin has never been a Republican and will most assuredly never get an endorsement from GOP leadership.  Sabrin has run against Republicans as a Libertarian and as recently as last week claimed that he will run an opposition slate to GOP-endorsed candidates.  Face it Sabrin supporters, it'll be Pennacchio or a late-comer on the ballot this November, for better or worse.

As for the left, you guys run around telling us that Obama never knew the true feelings of a close friend, confidant and pastor as recently as last year and that it should not affect the campaign.  Now you're saying that a paper of ideas written 17 years ago will torpedo Pennacchio's campaign.  Come on, people.  This is ridiculous!

Look at Pennacchio's tenure as a legislator and listen to what he says in his stump speech.  Judge him on his record and then choose to either vote for him or for Sabrin.  It's that simple.

"A government big enough to give you everything you want is strong enough to take everything you have.” - Thomas Jefferson

More Jersey Joke

Its sad Joe had to force a vote to cover up his "Nationalist Agenda." Did the screeners read his book before making a decision? Unfortunately hes their "hometown boy", no excuse really but for a party that is no losing seats in West Milford I guess you cant expect much. Frankly If I were them I'd repudiate him representing my county.

response to JoeSchilp

You're right that they probably didn't know about it... but that doesn't mean it's over. It will be brought up again, no matter who the person running against him is. But don't spread these lies around... of course Sabrin is a Republican. And if you understood what the Libertarian party is about, you'd know that they are much more Republican (Conservative) than the current people in the Republican party. I've been a Republican all my life... Sabrin has the longterm momtentum needed. He has the donations and the excitement / fans. Pennacchio doesn't have that and I guarantee you, if he goes against Lautenberg, he will lose. I think Sabrin has a better chance simply because he has a different kind of momentum and has already brought in the independent supporters (and the money from donors).

03/18/08 10:34 pm

Sabrin is only a Republican because...

it was politically expedient for him to switch parties.

03/18/08 10:48 pm

I Agree with Joe S. to a point..

I still think the agenda gives some good material for negative ads to Lautenberg in a general election, and with that kind of money those ads can do some serious damage. We haven't seen it now, but we will probably see it in the general.

But overall, most primary voting republicans could care less about a 17 year old document that has some rather crazy ideas.

Time to call on another Joe for Senate

Time to call on Joe Assisi !!!!

No manifesto here

03/19/08 7:03 am

Same Can Be Said Of "Union" Bill Baroni

it was politically expedient for him to switch parties.

That's funny Eric, because I was thinking that Bill Baroni was ONLY a Republican because it WOULDN'T be politically expedient for him to switch parties, so he wins as a Republican and votes like a Democrat.

GOP blindly forges onward

No learning from the past mistakes here. No hope for the future. Just the same old reflexes.

Well, let's sum it up:

It's the economy stupid, and finances, stupid.

Back to square one with old fools.

03/19/08 8:59 am

Wow

The Sabrin campaign must be in a panic now. Its got to be embarrasing to lose to Joe Penn a day after the manifesto was published.

Its time for someone new to step in. Joe Penn's campaign is damaged beyond repair, and Murray Sabrin's campaign is impotent.

03/19/08 9:44 am

No Eric Your Impotent

The Passaic GOP is a joke they endorsed Fascist Joe because hes their "hometown guy" and they LOOOOVE losing. Even with Paterson voter turnout at -5% they could not win. What is really impotent though is your crusade to make us nominate a spawn of Estabrook. Its not gonna work!

03/19/08 10:42 am

Well It

seems that Murray Sabrin loves losing because even in the unlikely event that he somehow wins the nomination, he has run a divisive campaign.

He lost the campaign the day he announced that he was going to field his own slate of delegates. Talk about a boneheaded move that will split the GOP.

03/19/08 11:06 am

Divisive?

Running against people who havent delivered since eight-track tapes were in is not divisive, it is a smart move. Our party needs to be revived. In Gloucester, where there was an open process and a growing, young party, Murray won.

What is divisive is the RINO war against Murray with no justification, though as usual you guys are fighting with spitballs from the country club garbage can rather than real ideas.

03/19/08 11:09 am

And Murray's people

will vanish from the scene after the Primary until next year and the Governor's race.  Sabrin's people are charter members of the "Short Attention Span Theatre".

03/19/08 12:18 pm

bring on the real Jersey Joe

Joe Assisi the only Joe who scares the pants of both Dems and the establishment alike

03/19/08 12:36 pm

There is a justification....

Murray Sabrin sowed the seeds of his demise when he announced that he was going to field his own slate of delegates.  And he continues to dig himself deeper into the hole every time he calls on someone to resign.

03/19/08 3:55 pm

funny thing

I'm starting to wonder if your just a Troll Eric, cause it seems to me that your the only one who keeps regurgitating the same points in the past two weeks about Murray.

At least some of his other detractors bring up good talking points, you on the other hand sound like a "chicken little" with "The sky is falling attitude".

Is  anyone ever going to

Is  anyone ever going to take up my challenge to name something in Pennacchio's actual voting record that is considered "liberal"??

03/19/08 6:04 pm

What

I think my last point was a legitimate one. How is Murray Sabrin going to unite the party when he is actively campaigning to exclude moderates from the party?

03/19/08 8:08 pm

Liberal?

How about 2.5 Million Dollars to dredge Greenwood Lake? Thats a start.

03/19/08 8:22 pm

How is that liberal?

First off how is that liberal? Don't give monetary reasons if the plan makes common sense. I don't know the issue with Greenwood Lake at all, but do you?

Second off I said Actual Voting Record, not bills proposed.

Give me something he voted for or against that makes him liberal.
