Paterson housing inspector pleads guilty to taking bribes

A former Paterson housing inspector pleaded guilty today to taking bribes.

Lee Holland was arrested in March after accepting a $600 bribe from an FBI informant. Holland had set up an arrangement with the informant, a property manager, to conduct lax inspections of his apartments in exchange for $200 per week, according to a U.S. Attorney Press Release.

The apartments were meant to be leased to Section 8 tenants, for which the City of Paterson received a federal grant.

Holland was one of 14 public officials from Paterson and Passaic who were arrested in March for corruption.

Simple Sanction

No need for incarceration in some of these cases, just a stiff fine and a lifelong bar from public employment in the state.
