U.S. Marshal James Plousis has decided against seeking the GOP nomination for U.S. Senate, becoming the third candidate promoted by party leaders to decline since Anne Evans Estabrook left the race last week. Plousis, a former Cape May County Sheriff, told County Chairmen yesterday that he wants to continue as the federal marshal.
State Sen. Christopher Bateman and former New Jersey Highway Authority Chairman Joseph Buckalew also said this week that they would not enter the race against four-term Democrat Frank Lautenberg. Joseph Pennacchio, a State Senator from Morris County, appears to be the clear front runner for the Republican nomination. He faces Ramapo College Professor Murray Sabrin, the leader of Ron Paul’s New Jersey campaign, in the June primary.

GOP establishment is in trouble
Is there anybody else left in their closet? Otherwise, let's go Dr. Sabrin. On to Lautenberg.
What establishment?
The one that hasn't won statewide in ten years? The one which went from winning seats in Paterson with Frank Catania to conceding the 38th to Democrats?? The one where Republicans held the 19th and have now lost it by 30? Let the establishment be put out to political pasture and let Murray inject new life into the GOP.
Down to Two...
As far as my vote.. It looks like it is a go... For Jersey Joe....
Murray would cut off funding for the war so he is out. Bateman would have been interesting. In hind sight, the NJ GOP should have signed on to a reality show about selecting a candidate (possibly "who wants to be a Senator). You never know....
One of the previous comments mentioned the GOP establishment and I would have to agree it no longer exist. The moderate wing could not adjust and the Conservative wing could not win,
when was the last time ?
That the Republicans had a solid conservative candidate for Senate who could trade blows with NJ Liberals.?? When ?
Answer NEVER so please dont tell us that a conservative with a populist message is toast.
Is this Tom writing?
I am not sure, who it is, but maybe it is Tom Wilson posting here messages that a conservative cannot win in NJ, although it has never been tried. Poor Schundler did not have a support and backing of the establishment.
Enough, already!
Enough already with seeking wealth and stick with principle. The last two candidates standing are Joe Pennaccio and Murray Sabrin. Let 'em duke it out and may the best man win!
Go Joe Pennaccio!

Here, Here!!!!
Seeking an outsider for the race reeks of the kind of desperation the Illinois GOP exhibited by throwing Alan Keyes up against Obama back in '04. If someone wants to run, let 'em jump in the mosh pit and see what happens.
