The Press of Atlantic City has endorsed Democrat James Whelan for State Senator in the second district. Whelan, a one-term Assemblyman and former Mayor of Atlantic City, is challenging GOP incumbent Sonny McCullough, who went to the Senate last February after William Gormley retired.
"As mayor, Whelan demonstrated the political skills to make things happen. He worked in a bipartisan way with diverse people and interest groups. As assemblyman, he has shown the ability, at times, to think creatively in order to sidestep legislative obstacles: He is attempting, for example, to find a realistic approach to preventing another casino shutdown, after one approach was considered unconstitutional," the editorial said. "Another proposal by Whelan, to require all governmental records be put online, has gotten statewide attention for promoting more open government." READ

New Leadership Down South
McCullough is not up to the job. Maybe, maybe, he is a fair local politician, but he is out of his league in Trenton. Does the 2nd District REALLY want to be represented by Sonny McCullough? Whelan is a much better candidate who has the capability of being one of the best. The A.C. Press has endorsed both VanDrew and Whelan. These two represent new and energetic leadership . McCullough/Asselta, their time has passed. We deserve new energy and independence that both Whelan and VanDrew give. The 1st and 2nd District need more than just " nice guys" going up to Trenton. The Press understands that and they can see that the combination of VanDrew and Whelan will give the region a strong voice in Trenton.
Big Surprize AC Press endorses Democrat candidates.
What a big surprize AC Press endorses Van Drew and Whelan. This paper is about as credible as the National Inquirer. AC Press lost alot of credibility when Whelan, Callaway and Levy took control of Atlantic City and AC Press ignored the whole issue until Harry Hurley broke the news locally.
Press of Atlantic City needs new leadership.
Hip Hip Hooray For HARRY HURLEY!!!!!

Whelan, a bi-partisan, independent leader
Just like I've been saying, James Whelan is an independent leader. He is by far the best choice for Atlantic County. Earlier this year the Press endorsed Republican for County Executive. Now, they endorsed Whelan because he will get things done. Sonny McCullough only knows how to complain - he has no solutions or ideas. Just a bitter man. The walls are closing in on Sonny and he's feeling it.
NJ Patriot have any more lame smear TV ads coming out?
NJ Patriot are you coming out with any new smear ads or are you going to continue using the same ones?
The smear ads against GOP in District 1 & District 2 look almost identical. At least some creative new smear ads might catch someone attention.
You guys are stealing the Democrats TV money this year. Lame mailers and identical TV negative ads...try earning your money. I hope the Democratic bosses are not too upset with your work this campaign season.
