United States Senate candidate Murray Sabrin hasn’t wasted any time in going after his new rival, Andy Unanue.
Less than 24 hours after Unanue decided to enter the Senate race, Sabrin put out a press release calling him a “playboy nightclub owner” and criticizing members of the Republican leadership for recruiting him.
Sabrin also challenged Unanue to a debate sometime this week.
"(Republican State Chairman) Tom Wilson and the failed Republican Leadership are trying to hang on to their limited power by recruiting a slick playboy nightclub owner from New York City to run for the United States Senate,” said Sabrin in the release. “What's next? The manager of the Bada-Bing Club to run for Governor?”
Wilson remains officially neutral in the Senate race, and did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Sabrin had previously called on Wilson to resign and has pledged to field alternate Republican slates for every level of government in the June primary. Unanue also could not be reached for comment.
Sabrin spokesman George Ajjan went on to criticize Unanue for making his decision on Easter Sunday.
"It was inappropriate for Mr. Unanue to play politics on the holiest day of the year for millions of New Jersey Christians,” he said.

Murray Sabrin Continues to Campaign Negatively
Sounds like Murray Sabrin is nervous.
Sabrin is loco
Once again, Sabrin proves he is incapable of being a U.S Senator, with his uncouth style and bad mouthing of everything and everyone. Criticize him for entering late, fine, but simply because he owned a night club is not grounds to demean him as a person. Unanue has given the state and national party a lot of money, and while that is not a symbol of ideological loyalty, it does show committment to the party.
I'm sure Murray has done a lot for the GOP. Oh, wait, no he just ran as a Libretarian against the GOP, yeah..
He's the last one who should bad mouth anybody, and he's getting REAL old, real fast.
AER Lounge
409 W 13th St
New York, NY 10014
212-989-0100
The website aerlounge.com was coincidentally shut down recently (it was cached on google as recently as 3/16)...hmmm...something to hide?
from a web review (http://www.gusto.com/newyork/newyork/nightlife/aerlounge-A72777.html)
Competition is fierce in the Meatpacking District but the hip, 10,000-square-foot Aer Lounge is a formidable – if a bit elitist – contender. The swish main bar, with low couches along curving walls, fills nightly with a sexy, label-happy crowd. In a nod to the neighborhood’s snob appeal, Aer also features a downstairs VIP lounge with sleek white furnishings and French-Caribbean nibbles. Be prepared to flash some serious cash to gain entry, but even if you don’t get in, you’re not missing much, as the real action is all happening in the main bar anyway. Perhaps Aer’s biggest bonus – especially for all the cigarette-puffing Europeans – is the glass-walled smoking veranda, which is warmed by heat lamps in the colder months. No matter where you kick it in this massive space, you’ll find it hard to stop at just one drink; the martinis are excellent and the extensive wine list includes top-notch French and Italian reds.
Shame on you, Andy!;-)
How dare Andy Unanue disrespect the true meaning of Easter, the death and resurrection of the Easter Bunny! I was wondering why my Cadbury Creme Eggs tasted mysteriously tainted yesterday!
Praise Jebus!! Vote for Murray!!!

Murray
Murray (and myself) are Jewish, so I doubt Murray is exactly a big Easter egg hunter himself.

the other questions about Unanue
what about the questions being asked about drugs and prostitution (the Eliot Spitzer issue)? Is Rob Ortiz going to backstab Jersey Joe for such an ethically troubled candidate?
who
Who raised the question? The Star Ledger, or Bergen Record, NO.
It was raised by Sabrin supporters online, IE: it really has no merit.
these questions are getting silly now
People keep saying that there are questions about Unanue's behavior. This troubles me because there have been no allegations (that I have seen so far) that he has done anything wrong. So I feel that I must ask this question.
Is Murray Sabrin pushing a whisper campaign to defame Andy Unanue?
TEN QUESTIONS FOR ANDY UNANUE
Still waiting for my 10 questions to be answered:
http://www.gopusanj.com/wordpress/?p=1604
I wonder how long he needs to answer a question on the 2nd Amendment ..
Eric
"Is Murray Sabrin pushing a whisper campaign to defame Andy Unanue?"
Heh, did you really expect anything less from a "Ron Paul Revolution" Kool-Aid drinker?
These people are the personification of nasty, slimy and beligerent and the cult's wheels are clearly turning very fast right now.
Andy, you can't say I didn't warn you!
"Liberals are people who will believe anything...twice."- William F. Buckley
This makes Obama/Hillary look good..
Unity for Republicans got thrown out the window along time ago in New Jersey apparently..
Some perspective
Murray's guys are getting way too bent out of shape. It's not like Sabrin was well liked in Republican circles anyway so it should be of no surprise that party leaders went looking for someone else. Someone else .... oh how shall I say, electable?
A Hispanic businessman with money and no voting record to attack sounds like a good choice to me.
Sabrin is a good enough guy- smart and articulate but suffers from the same disease Steve Lonegan has: He's completely unelectable. Sabrin's tone and demeanor offends people and he makes more enemies then friends out on the campaign trial despite the fact that some of his ideas seem logical.
Jersey Joe is another nice enough guy but is far too weak on the policy side, not articulate enough and doesn’t exactly excite the masses.
Give Andy a shot- what does the party have to lose? Realistically Lautenberg is beatable and he looks to have the best chances of pulling this off.
One more thing
If that is really Andy's club in the city ... I like him even more. Sounds like a great place.
Sabrin = Failcopter
Flying failcopters is one of the great pleasures of academia. You can fly your fail into the great wide sky, looking down on all those who have to earn a living while you pontificate about the "real" intent of the Constitution. Fail.
Here is a little secret for Failcopter Pilot Sabin: people in New Jersey do not want a real representative in Washington and not another Ron Paul crusader in issuing principled rants about medicinal marijuana. We are # 50 in getting money back from D.C. - explain to us non-fails how you are going to get necessary funds from Washington back into New Jersey, or at least bring us closer to tax-spend parity. (Ron Paul, your hero from Texas, operates his failcopter in a state that is a near parity in terms of tax dollars collected by the Federal government versus spent there.)
Sabrin knows how to threaten and bully. How about showing us your plan to get more of our federal tax dollars back into New Jersey instead of funding projects in Ron Paul's Texas? Then, and if you have a plan for that, and then you can blather on about medicinal marijuana or whatever.
BTW, one person who hasn't been bullied by this over-educated fail is Ortiz.
Ortiz...
I dont think Mr. $16000 is much of a force these days. Where is his campaign against the worst Democratic freeholder slate in New Jersey history??? I dont see ANYTHING yet!
This tells me all I need to know about Murray Sabrin's campaign
First shot out of the barrrel from Sabrin is not a question about where the new candidate stands on the issues, nor is it a challenge to a good faith debate so people can make an informed choice. Instead, Sabrin has chosen to lob rather a smug and derisive broadside. More name calling. Oh, how very clever! Can he possibly be serious? Does he think this is what the party needs? Does he think this is the way to win a primary?
It's bad enough that he insults our intelligence by claiming the mantle of Republican virtue despite being a long time Libertariian, he apparently now thinks personal insults and clever characterizations are the path to nomination. It is clear to me that he is nothing more than Lyndon LaRouche with a better haircut.
I already knew he was unelectable. Now, with the shamefully negative path he has chosen, he just seems pathetic.
Debate
1. One thing about these checkbook appointed candidates, they can't debate. Let them go at it, and televise it.
2. What happened to the numerous convention votes in several counties? Is the GOP about to throw them under the bus? It is becoming increasingly clear that being a member of the rank and file GOP is a waste of time.
3. Sparxx 10 questions are important. Let's hold our breath until Andy declares a % of GOYA customers 'illegal'.
I do not know
I do not know anything about Unanue. But I do know that Sabrin is a shameless self-centered egotist.
Republicans in NJ are doing what the Dems are doing nationally - killing each other while the opposition sits pretty.
Knock it off douche bag and lets have an honest debate of the next few weeks. What are you afraid of?
Its RINO Hour at Wally Edge
Are you guys afraid because Murray has the courage to take tough stands on issues? I mean Unanue may be an ok guy, but how do you all rally to him without knowing much about him?
Issues?
What issues??? All i've seen Murray do is hurl insults at everybody in his path.
If that's all Murray is capable of doing, he should be one of us here on the blogosphere, not running for office.
"Liberals are people who will believe anything...twice."- William F. Buckley
Got no problem with Pennacchio...
None of us that are attacking Murray are attacking Pennacchio.
I said we needed a third option because of some doubts over whether Pennacchio could be a strong challenger to Lautenberg and his money (and the negative ads that would be aired because of the "manifesto"). But I really like Jersey Joe and would have no problem voting for him and being a strong supporter of his in the general election; I'm just not sure he's the best candidate to go against Lautenberg. I know Sabrin isn't.
At least someone in the US Senate race has ran a respectful campaign about the issues. And for that, I have definately not ruled out voting for Joe Pennacchio in the primary. I'm gonna wait to hear some of Unanue's positions and let the guy develop his campaign before I make a judgement, it's still incredibly early. He hasn't even officially announced.
Goya Empire
Here is an article i found that pretty well describes Andy Unanue. Read it an enjoy.

Hey Murray, what's next ...
... Tony Montana/Scarface references? Say hello to my little friend!!!
Heaven forefend that a wealthy latino should own a nightclub. Of course the Sabrinistas connect the stereotypical dots and bring in innuendeo about drugs (hey, maybe Pablo Escobar was his Uncle) and prostitution (you know those types, they're so hot blooded). If you have any decency, Murray, you'll tell your pit bulls to lay off the low blows and stick to the real issues. Sadly, his impotent academic ego has been emboldened by Ron Paul's laughable run for the presidency.
Truth be told, my Sabrinista friends, there's no one in the world less worthy of holding public office than a career academic. As the saying goes, those who can't do, teach. The bottom line is the only thing Murray has ever run is his mouth.
Murray
Is soooo terrible. His jokes arent even funny. Thanks for rolling out that warmed over Sopranos jok Murray-we've all never heard it before
Jealous Murray? You Should Be
Look in the mirror Murray; oh maybe you did and that is why you are acting like a jackass!
Sabrin as I said before is a waste or time and space and votes. But hey, his ego is so huge he dosent give 2chits about anyone b ut himself.
Thank goodness the voters know better!
More Cowbell Please !!!
Maybe now Murray can jump on
Maybe now Murray can jump on Ron Paul's spaceship and fly far away from this Senate race, which is still going to be a disaster for Republicans.
A reincarnatied Ronald Reagan couldn't win against Lautenberg, even if Lautenberg were somehow older than it.
How is the weather in Colorado?
Nice, cold and a lot of snow. I got you. No time for debates. Good luck on the slopes.
sabrin challenges unanue to debate
First of all you get the government that you deserve. Please take a look at the falling American Dollar, the very unsteady American economy and the rising inflation-the Fed wouldn`t cut interest rates like this if the economy wasn`t in bad shape-the government wouldn`t try some stupid stimulus package if the economy was in good shape. There are very few people who run for public office who understand why the economy is in the shape that it is-these same few people understand that the economic problems stem from the privately owned Federal Reserve-no it`s not a government agency, for those of you who are still in the dark...if you feel like you need to toe the party line regardless of the consequences then by all means do so, just don`t complain when milk is $6 a gallon. People like Ron Paul and Murray Sabrin understand the economic problems and are fighting the Powers That Be every day for you and your children. Tell me again what your precious Andy Unanue and Joe Pennacchio are going to do to help you when you can`t afford the basic necessities of life. Forget politics as usual, it`s a road to nowhere. Do something really constructive and cast a vote to make a real difference in our State as well as the entire country. I leave this discussion open to anyone who wants to debate it.
