Sad
Bernard was a good man. He will be missed.
Good Man Indeed
I met Bernard while teaching Empowerment Civics with Harry Pozycki and the Citizen's Army in like 2003. We both taught the class in Metuchen that was used in a video of this important tool to empower citizens to have more power in their local government. I remember how kind, funny, and charismatic he was. I believe he was just about to get married. It is sad when an honestly good soul who enriches the lives of so many leaves us. My prayers go out to his family and close friends. Ronald C. Rice
Terrific and Smart
I knew him as a terrific, smart, insightful guy. Does anyone know of the funeral arrangments? I looked in the obits today and saw nothing. My prayers also go out to his wife and child. I saw them last year in Metuchen, when the baby was quite small. He was so proud, showing off his little one. His wife must be heart broken.
Arrangements
Services will be held by Costello-Runyon Funeral Home at 568 Middlesex Avenue in Metuchen. A wake will be held there on Wednesday 6-9 p.m. On Thursday, a viewing will be held at the New Hope Baptist Church at 45 Hampton St. in Metuchen 10:30-11:30 a.m. to be followed by a funeral service. Spigner will be interred at Hillside Cemetery in Metuchen. Memorial contributions can be made to the Robbie Spigner College Fund, care of Costello-Runyon Funeral Home.
Bernard Spigner
He was one of the best people I ever met. He could talk about Mark Twain, James Baldwin, David Sancious, David Ben Gurion, New Jersey politics.......in the same sentence and have it make sense!
