Assemblyman Gary Schaer, one of four Assembly Democrats who refused to vote yes or no on legislation to legalize civil unions, isn't taking any heat at all -- or getting any praise -- for his position. Actually, it seems that people in the 36th district, which includes parts of Bergen, Essex and Passaic counties, don't seem to care either way. "We haven't heard any feedback," said Schaer Chief of Staff Andrew Schwab. "Nobody has called, written, emailed."

I don't think anyone's getting thrown out of office b/c of their vote here.

Again, for Dem incumbents already in trouble this issue could potentially be used (along with just about every other) in a primary. However, this issue alone will not lead to any primary defeats. Besides, the law passed easily...so I'm not sure how this could impact Schaer and the four others.

Nobody called or e-mailed? Andrew Schwab must have turned off his phones and computers when Garden State Equality members and friends called and e-mailed the Assemblyman.
I would suggest he might double check his "in box"!

Garry Schaer's vote or non vote on Civil Unions
I Yehuda Shain wrote to Assemblyman Schaer re: Civil Unions.. I questioned if he was aware that an abstention is as good as voting for it?
Who agreed with him that as a religious Jew he should have voted against it even though it was a Democrat sponsered bill.
