''The voters here should also be afforded a real choice regarding who should govern them,. Allowing (Tom) DeLay to be replaced on the November ballot will further this fundamental principle of democracy." -- Attorneys for the Texas Republican Party, in a brief to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. (New York Times, 07/27/06)
"I disagree with your assumption. The voters have a choice. Mr. Torricelli is on the ballot." -- U.S. District Court Judge Peter Sheridan, when he was the attorney for the New Jersey Republican Party during the 2002 U.S. Senate race.

While we're in the business of playing Devil's Advocate, a Texas Democrat would probably prove to be more Conservative than Doug Forrester! He would be better off going back to California where he's from originally. He would probably be able to make it over there in some capacity.;-)

I think what we really need to focus on here is that Doug Forrester was the best the Republican's had to offer in two Election cycles -- that is the truly disturbing point.

oh wait I forgot Paul Ahronsohn has won that contest! (The only 1 he could win!)

I voted for Schundler Because I worked on his 2001 campaign and was waiting for him to run again in '05. Unfortunately Doug Forrester(The Buffalo Bills of New Jersey Politics) had to screw everything up.
As much as I liked Mayor Lonegan I didn't think that it was his time yet. He's working very hard right now to set the stage as the frontrunner in '09 and while I seriously doubt that the NJGOP would make him their primary candidate he is the only politician Republican or Democrat that has a firm grasp of New Jersey's fiscal woes and he will have my full support.

Don't be dillusional - Forrester was the best candidate. The fact is that he ran against a flippin' ATM. All the ideology in the world couldn't overcome Corzine's money.
Shroeder, Schundler, Calaguire or any of the candidates from the very conservative ideology would have been beaten even worse than Fortrester becuase they wouldn't have been able to keep pace with Corzine's spending.
