Haines and the Republicans

The district 8 Republicans need to do the right thing and offer a public apology for this offensive flier, one that goes against the core values of representation and due process in this country. The judge was absolutely right -- after it, this is involves constitutional law -- to criticize the shameful acts of the Boss Paulsen team of Haines, Addiego and Rudder.    I Like this quote

where in the constitution does it say that it's illegal to critize someone?

I thought that Poritz had left the bench.

karcher's tree farm

If what Karcher is saying is true, that she sells about 7 or eight trees per year, then I have been in the wrong business all of my years.  Even at $500  a year in income, that means her xmas trees are selling for more than $70 apiece.  Sounds to  me that she has a pretty sharp accountant.

How can the judge be shocked

How can the judge be shocked after a couple of years on the bench? First of all there is a conflict of interest. If an Assembly candidate is married to a person defending a terrorist it shows a lack of judgment by both parties.

In the eyes of the IRS, the couple file one tax return. In the eyes of creditors both are responsible for debts of each other. In the eyes of God, the two become one. How can you separate them when she shares in the income from her husband's fees earned from defending the terrorist. I think it is fair game to connect the dots.

If the husband knew his wife was running for Assembly, he could have declined the appointment by the court and it would have been granted. But greed is blind and now the cat is out of the bag. The husband, by profession, should have known better.

You're getting a little ahead of yourself

Ever heard of "Presumption of Innocence"? Everyone is entitled to a defense and every lawyer is entitled to make a living. Imagine a justice system where lawyers were unwilling or afraid to defend people because of what the neighbors might think...

Its wrong....

....because every single person in the jury pool got the mailing.

It tainted the jury pool and opens up the trial to a mistrial or overturn on appeal, that's why it was wrong.
