(FLORENCE) – The New Jersey chapter of the Sierra Club has endorsed Rich Dennison in his election bid to represent the 7th Legislative District in the New Jersey State Senate.
“I am honored that the Sierra Club has chosen to endorse me, rather than my opponent, in recognition of my lifelong efforts at being an ardent and proud environmentalist. As the next state senator from the 7th district, I will work hard to ensure that our state commits fully to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protects our water resources, and preserves open space from development.”
As a licensed funeral director, Dennison has taken the lead through educating members of his profession as to how the funeral and cremation industry might be able to better play its part in helping to protect the environment.
In light of his experience with environmental issues, Dennison was given the responsibility during the Clinton administration to perform a great deal of the research necessary for both President Clinton’s and Vice President Gore’s remarks regarding the need for alternative, renewable and clean energy sources.
“I will work harder than Diane Allen ever has to ensure that we make New Jersey a more environmentally friendly state. Nothing less than the future of our planet is at stake and there must be a call to action on this issue of absolute importance. Beginning the first day I am sworn into the state senate, I will be a leader in building the consensus necessary to bring about new and creative environmentally-sound initiatives for the state of New Jersey,” said Dennison.
The Sierra Club is the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization. There are an estimated 20,000 members of the New Jersey chapter, which is the tenth largest of the 65 chapters in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
