GOP Party leaders excited over prospect of Teddy Roosevelt running for the US Senate
Jersey Joe Pennacchio weighing endorsement of the former President.
Florham Park, NJ (April 9, 2008) – US Senate candidate and State Senator “Jersey Joe” Pennacchio today announced that if top National and State GOP leaders manage to exhume, revive and convince former President Teddy Roosevelt to run for the United States Senate, he would step aside.
“Jersey Joe” Pennacchio stated, “I would not do it for anyone else except Teddy Roosevelt. He is a hero of mine and the party leaders would finally get their wish.”
Teddy Roosevelt, who currently resides in Young’s Memorial Cemetery in Oyster Bay, New York, would have to become a New Jersey resident, but only if elected. Pennacchio said, “If party leaders can workout the details on exhuming, reviving and convincing Teddy to run, I have only one caveat; Teddy must renounce the Bull Moose Party, and once again take up the GOP banner.”
Teddy Roosevelt, like some other New Jersey GOP candidates, could not be reached for comment.
Rumor has it that in a last ditch effort, if Teddy Roosevelt cannot be exhumed, revived or convinced to run, a high-level group of GOP national and state party leaders will immediately fly to Springfield Illinois to attempt to exhume, revive and convince Abraham Lincoln to serve as a backup candidate and save the party.
However, some within the leadership expressed concern that “Honest Abe” may not be able to self fund his campaign.
Joe Pennacchio is a New Jersey State Senator representing the 26th Legislative District.Visit www.jerseyjoe08.com for more information on State Senator Joe Pennacchio's candidacy for the United States Senate.
