The Winner of this week’s Valerie Huttle Chutzpah Award is the Chris Smith for Congress campaign, which criticized Democratic challenger Josh Zeitz for living and voting outside the district. Zeitz voted in New York while he was in college, and lived in Massachusetts and in England while he was a college professor at Harvard and Cambridge. It’s interesting that Smith would even bring up residency as an issue, considering he lives in Virginia.

Wally,
Where does Smith vote? I don't want to defend Chris Smith because he is a fiscally irresponsible Congressman not worthy of wearing the Republican uniform, but he does vote in New Jersey and since he was elected must spend a lot of time in DC. None of the NJ Congressmen commute daily to DC.
But where does Andy Unanue live? He wants to be a NJ Senator but seems to be geographically challenged for the job.

residency
Chris Smith lives full-time in northern Virginia, and his kids go to school there too. His "residency" in Washington Twp is little more than a mail-drop, and its been this way for some time.
Incidentally, Rob Andrews commutes daily from South Jersey to D.C., and I don't believe there are any other NJ Congressmen who don't live nearly full-time in NJ (i.e., their families live in NJ) and just go to D.C. a few days a week.
Chris Smith is basically an absentee Congressman.
However, given that Frank Lautenberg has largely lived on Park Avenue in NYC for several years now, I'm not sure its the right year to make residency a big issue.
Hey Wally
You really suck and so does this miserable site. Why don't you reveal yourself like the In the Lobby folks do? You won't because he and this drone site are pathetic. Yes, it pains me to look at this 1 or 2 times a month. Valerie Huttle award, this person that, that person this. No guts, no glory.

I would actually pay good money to watch you and Wally duel in Weehawken!
We'd just have to make sure that George Clooney doesn't get in the way!
