CONIGLIO ON CORZINE BUDGET: NO GIMMICKS THIS YEAR
TRENTON - Senator Joseph Coniglio, a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, today said the Corzine Administration's budget proposal impressed him because of its "no-gimmicks-approach" to dealing with these tough fiscal times.
"There's a growing realization that there are no easy solutions to property tax reform, but the Corzine Administration should be commended for its no-gimmicks approach in this spending plan," said Senator Coniglio, D-Bergen.
"With a significant increase in property tax relief, no new taxes or new debt and a restrained approach to spending, I think this proposal is starting off in the right direction," he said.
The Bergen County Democrat said he was interested in soliciting input from the public during the budget hearing process to find ways to increase property tax relief.
"We have to keep everything on the table as we explore ways to keep New Jersey competitive during these troubled times," Senator Coniglio said.
