State Senator Joseph Kyrillos

AG EPISODE SHOWS THAT NOTHING HAS CHANGED IN TRENTON
Outrage Growing Over Bergen Incident

Senate Judiciary Committee member Joseph M. Kyrillos, Jr. (R-Monmouth/Middlesex) issued the following statement in light of media reports that allege that the Attorney General attempted to intercede in a police investigation.Senate Judiciary Committee member Joseph M. Kyrillos, Jr. (R-Monmouth/Middlesex) issued the following statement in light of media reports that allege that the Attorney General attempted to intercede in a police investigation.

The episode unfolding around the actions of the Attorney General underscores the reasons why I voted against her confirmation in the first place in both the Judiciary Committee and on the Senate floor, said Kyrillos. “Prior to my vote against her in the committee, I publicly stated that I hoped she would dispel my reservations about her and succeed as Attorney General. Sadly, she appears to have done exactly the opposite if the published reports of this situation are accurate.

An impartial and complete review and investigation of this incident is necessary and I await its findings. If the published reports prove to be true then it will be incumbent upon her to step down from office.
