(Vineland) – Senator Nicholas Asselta has received an update from the New Jersey Department of Transportation regarding the construction on the Route 52 causeway and the closure of two lanes.
“There have been several concerns voiced to my office regarding this project, stated Senator Asselta. “The Department of Transportation has effectively addressed those concerns and will assist in making this project as pain-free as possible for motorists.
New Jersey Department of Transportation Commissioner Kris Kolluri responded in less than a week to Senator Asselta’s plea for the opening of four lanes on the Route 52 causeway during the tourist season. Today, Commissioner Kolluri relayed to Senator Asselta that there will be four lanes open on the Route 52 causeway from Memorial Day to Labor Day in attempt to ease traffic and safety concerns.
“I would like to commend Commissioner Kolluri for acting so quickly, and realizing the seasonal nature of our economy. I am grateful that the Commissioner responded to the needs of Cape May County, and understands the potential economic and safety implications that the closure of the lanes would have caused, concluded Senator Asselta.
