STATEMENT FROM CHAIRMAN VICTORY SCUDIERY
Monmouth County Democratic Party Chairman Victor Scudiery today issued the following statement:
“Assemblywoman Jennifer Beck has called yet another grandstanding press conference to rail against corrupt Democrats, yet she still refuses to speak out against corruption in her own party. Right here in Monmouth County we have seen Republicans indicted and sent to jail, and Jennifer Beck says nothing. The Republican Freeholder board has spent hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars in cost overruns on the Hall of Records – money that has gone to a politically connected developer – and Jennifer Beck says nothing. Her own party chairman instituted a modern-day poll tax to keep people not in the party’s good graces from running for office, and Jennifer Beck said nothing. That’s real hypocrisy, and Beck’s far too partisan to really take on corruption in Trenton and be part of the solution.
“People want real leaders who are going to stand firm against corruption wherever it is revealed, and no matter the cost. If Jennifer Beck wants to be a genuine leader on ethics reform at some point she’s going to have to recognize that corruption isn’t limited to one party, and take a lesson from Ellen Karcher. Ellen has led the fight against corruption wherever she sees it, enduring death threats against her and her family, wearing a wire for the FBI to catch corrupt officials, and passing the toughest ethics laws we’ve ever seen. Ellen Karcher is working every day to take government away from the special interests and return it to the people, and she’s exactly the kind of leadership we need in Trenton.” ###
