DeCroce household split on presidential pick

The wife of Assembly Minority Leader Alex DeCroce has joined the Mitt Romney for President camp, according to State Sen. Joseph Kyrillos, the state's New Jersey chairman for Romney's campaign.

BettyLou DeCroce's politically prominent husband supports former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani for president.

So what's going on between Pennacchio and DeCroce?

One endorsement that U.S. Senate candidate Joseph Pennacchio is missing: his running mate, Assembly Minority Leader Alex DeCroce.  DeCroce seems intent on staying out of the Senate race, even though Pennacchio was his running mate in District 26 contests in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007.  DeCroce’s wife, Roxbury Township Clerk Betty Lou DeCroce, served on Anne Evans Estabrook’s exploratory committee.  DeCroce has not really shied away from endorsing in primaries before: in recent years, he has backed candidates for Governor, the Legislature, Freeholder and Councilman in GOP primaries.

One Estabrook supporter says she'd back Pennacchio

Serving on Anne Estabrook's U.S. Senate Exploratory Committee doesn't necessarily constitute an official endorsement, according to Betty Lou DeCroce, the wife of Assembly Minority Leader Alex DeCroce.  Mrs. DeCroce, the Roxbury Township Clerk, was included on a list of Estabrook supporters during the initial exploratory committee announcement on July 11.  But DeCroce says that if Assemblyman Joseph Pennacchio, her husband's running mate, challenges Estabrook in the '08 GOP Senate primary, she'll be for Pennacchio.
