CONNERS/CONAWAY BILL INCREASING PERSONAL NEEDS ALLOWANCES OF SUBSIDIZED NURSING HOME RESIDENTS ADVANCES

(TRENTON) -- An Assembly panel today released legislation Assemblymen Jack Conners and Herb Conaway, M.D. sponsored to increase to $50 the monthly personal needs allowance for qualified government-subsidized residents at nursing homes, state hospitals, or developmental centers.

Inducted, then indicted: League of Municipalities doesn't use the Pete Rose rule

Among the members of the New Jersey League of Municipalities' Elected Officials Hall of Fame are: former Ocean Township Mayor Terrance Weldon, who was inducted in 2001 and pleaded guilty in 2002 to extorting money from developers; former Burlington Township Mayor Joseph Foy, pleaded guilty to income tax evasion as part of a plea bargain agreement earlier this year -- eight years after his Hall of Fame induction; former New Hanover Mayor Patrick Malloy, inducted in 1996, pleaded guilty in 2004 to witness tampering in a case involving no-bid paving contracts for a relative. Linden Mayor John Gregorio was inducted in 1999 -- sixteen years after forfeiting his mayoral office and State Senate seat following his criminal conviction, but nine years after a pardon allowed him to return to office. Louis Tedesco, the former Mayor of Little Ferry who was arrested twice on domestic violence charges, was inducted as a Hall of Famer in 1997.

(Burlington Township, NJ) - On Thursday June 8th, the Burlington Township Republican team of Fred Schwartz, Donna Dorrall, Dave Parker, and Anant Patel kicked off their campaign for Council at Mulligan’s Ice Cream and Restaurant. While addressing activists, county leaders, and supporters, the candidates discussed the need for change and the way that the current council is out of touch with the residents of Burlington Township.
