           (Atlantic County, NJ) When Assemblyman Jim Whelan was mayor of Atlantic City, his Administration awarded more than $400,000 in no-bid contracts to the Camden law firm of State Sen. Wayne Bryant, “a plausible explanation for why Whelan has failed to call for the indicted Sen. Bryant to resign from the Senate,” the Atlantic County Republican legislative team said today.

Ex-Democrat will be GOP Freeholder candidate in Atlantic

Former Pleasantville Administrator John Bettis has switched his party affiliation and will run for Atlantic County Freeholder as a Republican.  

The incumbent in Atlantic County's first district, Rev. Nelson Lawton, is not seeking re-election to the seat he has held since 1989.  Atlantic County Democrats are backing Charles Garrett, overruling a convention victory last week for Pleasantville Board of Education President Jayson Adams, an ally of jailed ex-Atlantic City Council President Craig Callaway.
