North Hudson mayors criticize Stack ally

Union City Mayor/ Assemblyman Brian Stack won the Democratic State Senate nomination over the organization candidate with 75% of the vote.Union City Mayor/ Assemblyman Brian Stack won the Democratic State Senate nomination over the organization candidate with 75% of the vote.Things may be heating up again in the feud between the Hudson County Democratic Organization and the Democrats for Hudson County.

Seven mayors from northern Hudson County criticized the North Hudson Community Action Corporation last week for giving a “golden parachute” to Executive Director Christopher Irizarry, temporarily halting a vote on his contract.

At issue is Irizarry’s $600,000 contract with the NHCAC, which provides him with a bonus of a year’s salary if the contract is not renewed. The mayors complained that not all North Hudson towns are adequately represented on the board and that “contracts are excessive and inappropriate for an agency that is supposed to be serving the poor and combating poverty.” The mayors also complained that any vote to cancel the contract would need a 2/3 “supermajority.”
