Democrats still waiting for Greenstein's decision on Senate

Democrats in the 14th district are still sorting out the selection of an Assembly candidate to run for Bill Baroni's open seat, with former Hamilton Council President Daniel Benson, former Hamilton Councilman Wayne D'Angelo, labor leader Michael Maloney, Mercer County Democratic Chairman Richard McClellan and John Cimino, the son of former Assemblyman Anthony "Skip" Cimino, competing for the nomination. Former Hamilton school board member John Stevenson and former Hamilton Library Trustee Joseph Leist, who had been considered for the nod before Baroni decided to run for Peter Inverso's State Senate seat, are no longer under consideration.

Lawyer seeks GOP support to challenge Sweeney

Mark Cimino, a 39-year-old attorney from Deptford, says he will seek the Republican nomination for State Senator in the 3rd district. The incumbent, Democrat Stephen Sweeney, is seeking re-election to a third term.Cimino is a rival of Gloucester County GOP Chairwoman Loren Oglesby, who could face a serious challenge for her own post in June. Cimino organized a coup against Oglesby in 2006, attempting to form his own slate of candidates for county office.
