Has anyone squandered public sympathy more thoroughly than Dina Matos?  She went from being Snow White to Imelda Marcos in a very short period of time.

Gov. Jon Corzine today nominated Amos Saunders, a 76-year-old retired Superior Court Judge from Passaic County, to serve as the new Republican member of the Election Law Enforcement Commission. The Republican seat has been vacant since December 2006. Corzine’s last attempt to fill it was in October 2007, when his nomination of Gabriella Morris was quickly withdrawn after realizing that Morris, who handles government affairs for Prudential, could not hold the post because ELEC also regulates lobbyists.

Former First Lady Dina Matos McGreevey has denied former gubernatorial aide Theodore Pedersen’s claim that she engaged in a threesome with him and her estranged husband, ex-Gov. James E. McGreevey, according to an ABC News report. Matos McGreevey says Pedersen’s claims “are completely false and prompted by Jim McGreevey.”

"This all has to do with the publicity I have received since Governor Spitzer resigned,” Matos McGreevey told ABC News. “Jim has enlisted one of his cronies in trying to distinguish that situation from his own, and to discredit me in the media. He cannot stand it when I am receiving attention in the media rather than him.”

Teddy Pedersen, a former aide to Gov. James E. McGreevey, says he engaged in a threesome with the former Governor and his estranged wife, Dina Matos McGreevey, according to stories posted this evening in the New York Post and The Star-Ledger.

The news that will have New Jersey's political community buzzing today is a report that James E. McGreevey told Oprah Winfrey that the first time he had sexual relations with Golan Cipel was while his wife was in the hospital having their daughter. Dina Matos McGreevey was hospitalized for several weeks prior to the birth of their daughter on December 7, 2001 -- less than a month after McGreevey was elected Governor. Just after taking office in January 2002, McGreevey named Cipel to serve as his Homeland Security Advisor.
