FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - At a news conference today with Congressman Pallone and local, county and State leaders, Senator Ellen Karcher renewed her support for federal legislation which would give states oversight of proposed trash transfer facilities, which jeopardize the quality of life of local residents and pose as a serious environmental, health and safety threat to communities.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP - Senator Ellen Karcher, D-Monmouth and Mercer, a member of the New Jersey Senate Transportation Committee, issued the following statement regarding reports that a waste transfer facility could be built in Freehold without local or State officials' input:

KARCHER ANNOUNCES EXTENDED DISTRICT OFFICE HOURS

FREEHOLD - Senator Ellen Karcher announced that her district office on West Main Street would maintain extended hours, beginning Wednesday, February 21, in order to accommodate constituents in her district who work until 5 PM.

"My staff and I look forward to expanding our district office hours, to better meet the needs of our constituents," said Senator Karcher, D-Marlboro. "For many working New Jerseyans, having to seek out their State legislators during regular work hours is impossible. By extending our office hours, we're ensuring that everyone has access to their State government."

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP (MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ): Middletown Democrat for Township Committee Patrick Short said the battle against eminent domain abuse in Monmouth County, and especially in Middletown, is one that has grave consequences for residents.

"I am pleased that the Democratic ticket running for county office this year has become involved with the fight to stop eminent domain abuse," Short said. This year. Barbara McMorrow, Freehold Township, is running with Greg Gibadlo, Middletown, for seats on the Monmouth County Board of Freeholders. Beverly Bova-Scarano, Middletown, is also running for surrogate.
