SWEENEY, TURNER TO HEAD UP MAJORITY CAUCUS

            TRENTON – Senate President Richard J. Codey (D-Essex) today announced the new leadership posts for the Senate Democratic Majority Caucus that will take effect when the 213th Legislature is sworn in on January 8.  Senator Stephen M. Sweeney will serve as both Democratic Majority Leader and Conference Chair, while Senator Shirley K. Turner will continue to lead as Senate President Pro-Tempore.

SENATE APPROVES MEASURE BANNING SALE OF CREATINE TO MINORS

          TRENTON    Legislation sponsored by Senate President Richard J. Codey and Senator John A. Girgenti banning the sale or distribution of creatine and other similar performance enhancing substances to minors was unanimously approved today by the full Senate.

SENATE GIVES GREEN LIGHT TO CODEY/GIRGENTI BILL FACILITATING HOMELAND SECURITY EFFORTS BETWEEN NEW JERSEY & NEW YORK

            TRENTON    The full Senate today unanimously approved a measure sponsored by Senate President Richard J. Codey and Senator John A. Girgenti that would provide New Jersey with the legal mechanism to enter into a mutual aid agreement with other states, such as New York, allowing law enforcement to work together to provide increased security.

            TRENTON    Senate President Richard J. Codey (D-Essex) applauded the Assembly Judiciary Committee for approving bills S1979/A3905 and S1978/A4096, paving the way for final passage of legislation that will give New Jersey some of the toughest tools in the nation to crack down on the growing threat of Internet predators.
