Epps joins endanged list (if he wasn't already there)

Hudson County Democrats are becoming increasingly hesitant to support the re-election of Assemblyman Charles Epps next year -- especially after a Jersey Journal report that Epps, the Jersey City Superintendent of Schools, has put four of his school district employees on the legislative payroll -- "further blurring the lines between his two public roles." Epps took some heat last Spring after reports of lavish spending on a taxpayer-paid trip to London, including a $500-per-night hotel room.

Three other Hudson legislators are in danger of losing party support for re-election in 2007: Senate Majority Leader Bernard Kenny, who is also the Hudson County Democratic Chairman; State Senator Joseph Doria, who just narrowly survived a re-election battle for Mayor of Bayonne last June; and Assemblywoman Joan Quigley.

Candidate for Congress Is concerned about terrorist groups.

A Statement From Leigh-Ann Bellew on Today's Terror Arrests

Today, we all received news of multiple arrests in London on yet another terror plot that was set to target airlines, murder countless innocent men, women, and children, and strike fear into our hearts once more. These arrests prove yet again that Intelligence communities around the world have worked night and day to investigate threats and take immediate action against anyone acting against freedom and humanity.

The intelligence gathering agencies are our first defense in the War against Terrorism. It is the method of preventing, rather than reacting to, an attack against our Nation and its citizens. That is why we must ensure the intelligence community is provided the funding necessary to prevent terrorist attacks before they are carried out.

We've heard a nearly endless stream of rhetoric from Frank Pallone (D-6th) based on partisan attacks on the President and this administration and never based on the safety or best interests of Americans.

It is time to stop the politically-motivated attacks and start looking at the real threats we're facing. It's time to replace those who've spent their time and energy trying to thwart attempts to keep us safe by voting against security initiatives, against funding our intelligence agencies and our military in the fight against global terror; our safety depends on it.
