JOE LOCRICCHIO RUNS FOR SENATE IN 12th DISTRICT

Two Tax Cuts in Two Years - Promise Kept to Residents He Serves

Republican Manalapan Township Committeeman Joe Locricchio has announced that he will seek his party's nomination to run for the 12th District State Senate seat. However, he will not seek the line at the covention. "Since the new County Chairman has closed the process to the County Committee by instituting a candidate selection committee, I will not attend unless the process is fair and open to all the that want to seek the nomination and not designed to control the process. I think it is an insult to all the county committee delegates that they are not allowed to have their voices heard."

"I believe the people of 12th District have not had their needs served by the current officeholders in the state Legislature," said Locricchio. "Under their watch, property taxes have increased to an all time high, the state sales tax has increased, our quality of life has decreased, and the 'politics-as-usual' approach to running government has not met the needs of the people."

As a member of the Manalapan Township Committee, he was able to lower municipal taxes in 2005 and 2006 while not cutting any municipal services -- making Manalapan the only town in the entire state of New Jersey to cut local taxes in two consecutive years!

"I campaigned in 2004 on a pledge to cut taxes, fight corruption, and enhance our quality of life. Under my watch, Manalapan is the only town in the state to cut local taxes two years in a row to the best of my knowledge. ," said Locricchio.

While a member of the Manalapan Township Committee, Locricchio led the fight to cut taxes for two consecutive years, and the strongest anti-corruption legislation on the local level, established the Township's Teen Advisory Committee, and initiated the vote for "Miracle's Law," the strongest local anti-pedophile ordinance in the history of the state of New Jersey.

Locricchio said his goal as a State Senator is to fight for real property tax reform that includes reducing state spending and balancing the state's budget without gimmicks by bringing the same fiscal philosophy to Trenton that he brought to Manalapan, and make New Jersey a place that’s affordable to live and work.

"Not one of our representatives of the 12th district in Trenton has my record of cutting taxes - and that's a fact. In 2006, despite promises to the contrary, property taxes, a myriad of state fees and the state sales tax went up. Our elected officials were given the chance to make New Jersey a better place. It is time for new leadership in Trenton. I would be honored to go to Trenton and fight for the people of the 12th District as their State Senator," said Locricchio.
