Cammarano might challenge Barnes in 18th

Peter Cammarano, who served as Chief of Staff to Governor Richard Codey, is considering a bid for the State Assembly in the 18th district. The incumbent Peter Barnes is has been appointed Chairman of the state Parole Board. He is expected to resign after the Senate confirms his nomination, which will trigger a Special Election Convention within 7-35 days.

Barnes' son, Edison Councilman Peter Barnes III, has already entered the race. Cammarano, a Metuchen resident and longtime Codey aide, has close ties to Edison Mayor Jun Choi.

TRENTON - Senator Barbara Buono today said the State should continue seeking an accord on a new school aid formula to help suburban districts who have been hurt by flat funding for the last five years.

"This is no time to surrender on finding a new school aid formula," said Senator Buono, D-Middlesex. "I've heard too many horror stories from concerned parents to give up at this point."
