Asks School Supts to Return Taxpayer Dollars for Questionable Degrees

            TRENTON – Senate President Richard J. Codey (D-Essex) today sent letters to both Attorney General Anne Milgram and Department of Education (DOE) Commissioner Lucille Davy requesting an investigation and crackdown on school administrators who obtain degrees from unaccredited and questionable colleges and universities.  Codey made the request in light of recent reports that various school superintendents and administrators have received pay raises and tuition reimbursements for degrees they received from unaccredited online universities.

            Senator Gerald Cardinale, (R-Bergen), today expressed dismay that the Legislative leadership is delaying hearings on the financial and environmentally troubled Encap project until after the election. Cardinale wants to know why New Jersey officials provided a politically connected developer with $300 million in public money to build a golf course and condominiums on sealed landfills despite warnings that the developer lacked the financial, managerial and technical resources to complete the project.

            TRENTON    Senate President Richard J. Codey (D-Essex) today expressed outrage that two of the alleged suspects in last week’s Newark murders were allowed to remain free on previous charges, enabling them to reportedly commit these latest atrocities.  Calling these reports “unacceptable,” Sen. Codey asked State Attorney General Anne Milgram to investigate the system that allowed these suspects to continue roaming the streets and later claim the lives of three innocent college students.
