Assemblyman to Salute New Jersey Troops Headed Overseas

(TRENTON) - Assemblyman Jack Conners, chairman of the Military and Veterans' Affairs Committee, will attend the deployment of New Jersey National Guard members of the 50th Infantry Brigade Combat Team tomorrow at Fort Dix.  Over 3,000 New Jersey soldiers will be deployed for "Operation Iraqi Freedom" during the next eight days.

MAYER, DIEGNAN, CONNERS 'STOLEN VALOR' BILL CLEARS ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE

(TRENTON) - The Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee today released legislation sponsored by Assemblymen David R. Mayer, Patrick Diegnan, and Jack Conners that would make it a crime for any person to impersonate - with the intent to deceive - a member or veteran of the United States Armed Forces or the New Jersey National Guard either by wearing a uniform, medal, or insignia authorized for official military use.

GOVERNOR CORZINE’S STATEMENT REGARDING IRAQ

TRENTON - Governor Jon S. Corzine today released the below statement regarding President Bush’s announcement that more than 20,000 additional troops will be sent to Iraq by the end of January. Major General Glenn Rieth, Adjutant General of New Jersey, has been informed by the Pentagon that 148 members of the New Jersey National Guard will have their tours extended by up to 125 days as a result of the military buildup.
