Today was the deadline for filing federal campaign returns, and the landscape of New Jersey politics hasn’t altered drastically.

In the Senate race, only Frank Lautenberg has filed with the Federal Election Commission. While the numbers have not yet appeared on the site, campaign manager Brendan Gill said that the 84-year-old Democrat has raised $931,700 during the last quarter of 2007, bringing his cash on hand total to about $4.32 million.

Corzine Budget Cuts The Election Law Enforcement Commission

Senator Bill Baroni (R-14), a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee asked Governor Corzine, in a letter today, to restore funding for the Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC). A copy of the letter is attached.

How to fill the Lance seat, if necessary

If Leonard Lance wins his race for Congress this year, there would be three separate elections to fill his seat in the State Senate. 

The first contest would be a Special Election Convention, held by the Republican County Committee in Hunterdon and Warren counties 7 to 35 days after Lance resigns.  In that race, there are 216 possible votes from Hunterdon and 180 from Warren -- if all County Committee seats are filled.

Full Senate to Vote to Block Spam, Prevent Hospital Infections in Afternoon Session

TRENTON - On Monday, the Senate Budget and Appropriations is slated to meet in the morning to review the FY 2008 Budget, followed by a full Senate session in the afternoon to consider legislation which would establish penalties for spam e-mails and establish infection prevention programs in State hospitals.
