CODEY:  NEW ALCOHOL POLICY IS THE RIGHT CALL

Praises the NJSEA & the Giants/Jets for New Code of Conduct Rules

 

            TRENTON – Senate President Richard J. Codey (D-Essex) today praised the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA) and the Giants and Jets football teams for instituting a new policy to govern the conduct of ticketholders and curb drunken and abusive behavior.  Last fall, Codey called on the NJSEA to crack down on drunken and unruly fan behavior that had led to harassment of a number of fans during half-time.

Our challenge to Jeff Tittel

Jeff Tittel leads one of New Jersey’s largest environmental groups, but sometimes it seems that he’d be happier working at Common Cause.  Tittell told The Record that state government’s allotment of Super Bowl tickets would go to the people with the best political connections. 

"This is New Jersey," Tittel said. "I know people who can call up at the last minute and get tickets from the Sports and Exposition Authority.

Is there a golden parachute for Bernie Kenny after all?

There is some speculation among Democratic insiders that Senate Majority Leader Bernard Kenny may be under consideration for George Zoffinger's soon-to-be-vacant job as President of the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority.   Kenny is expected to announce shortly that he will not seek re-election to the Senate seat he has held since late 1992, and he is also not likely to run for Hudson County Democratic Chairman again.
