Caliguire will challenge O'Toole for Senate

Former Bergen County Freeholder Todd Caliguire, who lost bids for Governor in 2005 and County Executive in 2006, will enter the race for the GOP State Senate nomination in the 40th district.

Caliguire will take on Assembyman Kevin O'Toole for the seat of Republican State Sen. Henry McNamara, who is retiring after 22 years in office.

Conservative activist John Ginty and Wayne Councilman Joseph Schweighardt will run for State Assembly on Caliguire's line.

McNamara announces retirement; O'Toole will run for Senate with Russo and Rumana

It's official: Hank McNamara announced today that he will not seek re-election to an eighth term in the State Senate, and Kevin O'Toole formally entered the race to succeed him.

Wayne Mayor Scott Rumana will run for O'Toole's Assembly seat, along with incumbent David Russo. Rumana is a former Passaic County Freeholder.

O'Toole, Russo, Rumana team up in District 40

Assemblyman Kevin J. O'Toole says he's running for the 40th district State Senate seat being vacated at the end of the term by veteran Henry McNamara.

O'Toole is running with incumbent Assemblyman David C. Russo,  and Wayne Mayor Scott Rumana, the Passaic County GOP chairman.

That's one lawmaker per county on that ticket: O'Toole in Essex, Rumana in Passaic and Russo in Bergen.
