Ramsey - Independent Congressional Candidate for the Fifth, R. Matthew Fretz released the following statement regarding Representative Scott Garrett's vote for HR 4844, requiring current government issued photo identification to vote.

"Garrett just voted to make every senior citizen without a driver's license take a trip to the DMV. If he and his cronies really want to make sure we have fraud free elections, they need to deal with the hackable electronic voting machines. The greater threat to the integrity of our Democracy is the fact we can't recount elections anymore, not someone's grandmother who hasn't driven in five years."

Fretz on Reservist Pay

Release Date: Aug 24 2006

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

August 24, 2006

Contact: R. Matthew Fretz - rmfretz@rmfretz.com

Ramsey - Independent Congressional Candidate for the Fifth, R. Matthew Fretz released the following call to action on House Resolution 5525 "Reservists Pay Security Act of 2006" for current Representative and opponent Scott Garrett.

"With the ongoing involuntary call-ups of Reservists in the Army and Marines, it is unbelievable that the Federal Government fails to financially protect their workers' families. Federal employees serving our nation as Reservists pay with their lives. It is immoral that Congress has not acted on this (HR 5525) sooner, full well knowing this Administration's failure to execute this war would lead to more call-ups and re-ups.

Scott Garrett says he supports the troops and veterans. This is a fool-proof way to put our vote where his mouth is. Step up to the plate and get this thing passed. There is right and there is wrong, and a failure to act by Garrett clearly puts him on the wrong side of an issue once again.

If elected in November, I won't pay lip service to fixing problems. I will fight my hardest for each and every citizen, especially the men and women who are prepared to sacrifice everything for our communities and our nation."

Ramsey - Independent Congressional Candidate R. Matthew Fretz released the following statement regarding the report released today from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

"The economy is stagnant at best. A refusal by Congress to deal with exploding gas and healthcare prices has effectively kneecapped the economy. Giving tax incentives to businesses to move jobs to India, South Korea and Taiwan threatens every American worker. A Congressman patting themselves on the back for wages trailing almost two and a half percent behind the cost of living in our area shows a complete ignorance to the plight of working men and women. Congress must take off the blinders, stop pushing nonsense legislation, and get to work fixing these very real problems now."

Ramsey - Independent Congressional Candidate R. Matthew Fretz released the following statement regarding private travel by members of the House of Representatives and their aides.

"There must be a ban on this activity. If special interest and foreign peddlers of influence want to talk to legislators, they know where to find them. In order to prevent further abuses, the House must adopt an independent review process. This is the only solution, since the House is unwilling to discipline or regulate themselves."

Ramsey, NJ - Independent Congressional Candidate R. Matthew Fretz released the following statement regarding the House of Representatives Committee on Government Reform report "Waste, Abuse, and Mismanagement in Department of Homeland Security Contracts."

"Where's the fiscal responsibility in a 739% explosion of "no bid" contracts? This is the latest example of taxpayers being ripped off. As one of the congressional districts contributing the most in tax dollars, we're also one of the districts being ripped off the worst. We as taxpayers must demand an end to no bid contracts, and a Representative with the moral fortitude to stand up and wage the war to eliminate them. I am that candidate for the Fifth."
