Expect O'Scanlon to run again

Almost a sure thing is that after losing his '05 bid for the State Assembly by a mere 73 votes, Little Silver Councilman Declan O'Scanlon will run again in 2007. It is a "pretty safe bet," says a campaign staffer, that he will mount a second challenge to Democrat Michael Panter. O'Scanlon's running mate, Red Bank Councilwoman Jennifer Beck, defeated Assemblyman Robert Morgan. Senate Republicans are already trying to recruit Beck to take on freshman State Senator Ellen Karcher in two years; if Beck declines, they could turn to O'Scanlon.

There will likely be some strong competition for the Democratic nomination to run with Karcher and Panter in 2007; possible candidates include Morgan and two Democrats who nearly won election to the Monmouth County Freeholder Board last month: former Freehold Borough Councilwoman Barbara McMorrow and former Manalapan Mayor Rebecca Aaronson.

Aaronson and McMorrow Smoke Screen Not Working
Their track records are very clear, even as they blow smoke about how much they can do for Monmouth County.

The Random House Dictionary defines a smoke screen as "something intended to disguise, conceal, or deceive; camouflage," and that is just what Rebecca Aaronson and Barbara McMorrow are doing, hoping to conceal their track records with inaccurate attacks on how Monmouth County is being run. Let's take a look at their track records as we peer behind their wall of smoke and mirrors!

Republicans need a history lesson
The Republican candidates for Freeholder have unveiled their lawn signs which attempt to rewrite history.
The top of the lawn signs call for voters to "Cut Spending Now – a concept that Democratic candidates Rebecca Aaronson and Barbara McMorrow support. However, by reading the signs voters would be misled to believe that the Republicans will fight to cut spending – yet it is the all Republican board that has allowed the budget to double in the last 15 years to $435 million dollars.
