TRENTON – After over two hours of testimony from Inspector General Mary Jane Cooper on the financial and communications problems that have plague the Meadowlands EnCap project, Senate Environment Committee Chair Bob Smith, presented five recommendations on how to move forward with the EnCap investigations.

 TRENTON – Senator Bob Smith announced today that he will chair a joint meeting of the Senate Environment Committee and Senate Legislative Oversight Committee on Monday, March 17, 2008 to receive testimony from Inspector General Mary Jane Cooper concerning her report on the failures involved in the EnCap golf and housing project.

SMITH/BUONO BILL TO ENCOURAGE RENEWABLE ENERGY PASSES SENATE

TRENTON – The Senate today approved legislation sponsored by Senators Bob Smith and Barbara Buono that would revise the laws concerning electricity production in New Jersey to encourage expanded use of renewable energy sources.

Two Senate committees will meet on Monday, one to hear experts offer ways to help those ensnared by mortgage problems in the sub prime lending crisis and a second to advance the creation of a shore protection panel and a statewide program that would promote fishing as an alternative to drug use among young people.
