'New Jersey Stem Cell Research Assistance Act' Would Provide Millions to Help Jumpstart Research Opportunities in the Garden State

(TRENTON) - Assemblyman Neil M. Cohen announced today he has introduced legislation to create the "New Jersey Stem Cell Research Assistance Program" to help stimulate the state's fledgling stem cell research program by encouraging venture capitalists to invest in research funding.

(ROSELLE) - Assemblyman Neil M. Cohen today praised the decision by California-based stem cell research company StemCyte - one of the world's largest umbilical cord blood stem cell banks - to open a research facility in Ewing.

TRENTON – A bill sponsored by Senators Ellen Karcher and Joseph F. Vitale which requires hospitals and health care professionals to advise pregnant women of the option to donate umbilical cord blood and placental tissue to a public or private blood bank was signed into law last week by Governor Corzine.

TRENTON – A bill sponsored by Senators Ellen Karcher and Joseph F. Vitale which would require hospitals and health care professionals to advise pregnant women of the option to donate umbilical cord blood and placental tissue to a public or private blood bank was approved by the Senate today by a vote of 37-0.
