Jon Corzine’s State of the State address proposing a major toll hike has caused more New Jerseyans to say the state is headed on the wrong track, according to a Fairleigh Dickinson University poll released today.  Just 26% of voters say the state is headed in the right direction, down from 33% earlier this month, and 63% say New Jersey is headed on the wrong track – up from 55%. 

“In fact the governor is telling voters that the state is on the wrong track,” said Peter Woolley, a political scientist and director of the poll, “and at least this part of his message is getting through.”

For Andrews, a no-brainer

Rob Andrews is endorsing Jon Corzine’s toll hike plan today. The ten-term South Jersey Congressman doesn’t need to become engaged in a state issue like Parkway and Turnpike tolls – especially since polls show Corzine’s has not yet convinced most New Jerseyans of the wisdom of his plan. So why is Andrews getting in the mix? Some insiders suggest it was an easy call for a guy who thinks Corzine’s backing for a future opening in the United States Senate might be important.

The Gov hasn't exactly been issued an EZ Pass. Mostly the newspapers are reserving judgment until there’s a full airing of the plan.
