Burlington County Democratic Chairman Rick Perr said that the eighth district Republican legislative candidates' ELEC reports demonstrate that they’re not serious about reform in Trenton.
Perr said that 19 names popped up in the latest report associated with the old GOP order in the county, including state Sen. Martha Bark, former county Republican Chairman Glenn Paulsen, Paulsen business partner Brian Kuwalski and Assemblyman Larry Chatzidakis. The group, which also included candidates Dawn Addiego, Phil Haines and Scott Rudder, is underwriting a $300,000 loan to the Republicans.
“This is clear evidence that the corrupt Burlington County GOP is financing the 8th District campaign and, as always, Bark and Paulsen are right in the middle of it," said Burlington County Democratic Chairman Richard Perr.
Burlington County Republican Executive Director Chris Russell didn’t see the loan as newsworthy.
"Republicans supporting Republicans is hardly news. In the wake of Fran Bodine's near daily ethical scandals and Tracy Riley's attempt to buy Bodine's land with taxpayer money in a backroom deal, the Democrats are desperately trying to change the subject. This, however, is a pretty lame attempt,” said Russell.
Democrats also continued to assail Republicans over their commercial criticizing Assemblyman/state Senate candidate Fran Bodine for voting in favor of state budgets between 1994 and 2002 – while he was a Republican, and during the Whitman and DiFrancesco administrations. A press release issued by the Democrats said the criticism should also apply to dozens of prominent Republicans, including Senate Minority Leader Leonard Lance and Assembly Minority Leader Alex DeCroce.
Meanwhile, the Republicans attacked Democrats on a county level for failing to file ELEC reports on time. The ELEC reports of freeholder candidate Tom Bader and sheriff candidate Ben Braxton were not immediately available online because they were filed a day late. Republicans are calling on the commission to investigate.
“This is the latest in a long line of attempts by Bader and Braxton to hide their direct ties to the corrupt Camden County political machine bankrolling their campaign,” said Russell.
Rick Perr said that the reports were filed late because of a $10,000 donation from a law firm that had to be broken up by individual donors. A copy of the report was sent to the Burlington County Times when it was requested.

BARK BARK BARK BARK
GOP is a JOKE. They have cried the whole campaign about everything. Martha Bark giving them a loan is about as stupid as it gets. Paulsen has lost it. He is so desperate to hold onto senatorial courtesy (because Diane hates him) and County government that he is mortgaging the future to retain his little empire for one more year. The GOP is done. Martha Bark funding the campaign. We've seen everything now. Even if the Republicans some how manage to win, which looks less likely by the minute, they will NEVER dig out of the 300K in loans and have no shot of winning next year in a Presidential year. It's over. Perr has dealt the final blow today. Great job by Perr and the Democrats to point out that Martha Bark is INTIMATELY involved in their campaign. 16,000 in loans to circumvent campaign finance laws from a woman who received over 330K in NO SHOW JOBS. CORRUPTION REIGNS IN BURLCO. Don't go to Thomas Ave. in Riverton tonight kids, it's all Tricks and NO TREATS. (Besides, there is a very rotund individual on the block)
What about the Constitution?
We keep hearing about the Constitutional rights of an illegal alien CHARGED with trying to MURDER 8th Dist voters.
The illegal alien deserves the protection of the Constitution therefore it is inappropriate to comment on him and his relation with the Dems.
However, Martha Bark, who has never been charged with anything after four years and four AG's - well she is guilty without ever being charged.
Perr is scum. He lost. The State Dems have abandoned him and his candidates. And he is desperate.
Desperate. Hypocritical. Ethically challenged. Out of a job.
Bye bye Perr.
MasonStupid
Ok, so what is the differnece between GOP money and the money rickey baby is getting from uncle George and his Camden Cronies??
NO DIFFERENE
We know Franny is upset cause he got no endorsements so they have to prop the old man up for something

Retire or Be FIRED
The Republican mantra is....."When in trouble, LIE" (I wonder if Scott Rudder was PINNOCHIO for Halloween?). The campaign ad they're running on television is really PATHETIC. Talk about backroom deals, need I remind you of Martha Bark and Walter RUDDER, you know, Scott's Daddy (could that be how Scottie got on the ballot?). Convenient how Walt "retired" after the Attorney General started his investigation. Let's get real, it was either retire (with some semblance of dignity) or be FIRED.
I don't know about you, but THIS Republican is voting for CHANGE!
Me Too
I am voting against ALL incumbent legislators. Then, I will vote against all people who endorse incumbent legislators via their willingness to run with them and stand by ALL of their positions.
Yep, I will join Republicans For Change and vote against the Bodine Riley team.
Thank you for giving me the courage to take a stand.
Another Reason Not to Vote for the Republicans
Driving through Evesham today, I noticed a few signs for the Bark-Paulsen team of Republicans, and they had the gall to suggest on the signs that they were the team for "change in Trenton." If change is a) having an ethics complaint lingering against you (Haines) because of conflating private and public interest b) using loans from Boss Paulsen and corruption-challenged Bark to front the campaign c) having multiple skeletons in the closet (Rudder's father helping to hire Bark, Addiego and Indian Springs, Addiego and UBS PaineWebber, and on and on) and d) having disgusting fliers printed out that suggest supporting constitutional law is tantamount to supporting terrorism, then color me disinterested.
Those who support clean government in N.J. and real ethics reform cannot in good conscience support the Paulsen-Bark backed ticket of Haines, Addiego and Rudder.
Driving through Camden today
I noticed Uncle George presenting Marty with a handsome new manbag. He then proceeded to photograph him in front of a tasteful window planter. He then handed him a copy of the 8th Dems' talking points (It was only one page, as they don't require any sort of, well, "evidence" as it is called).
That being said, the ethics complaint will continue doing exactly what you are saying it is doing at present; lingering, and nothing more. Just like anyone can file a frivolous lawsuit, anyone can file a meaningless ethics complaint. The only difference is, Phil Haines hasn't blamed this on a "bad cell phone connection"(Courier Post) and actually offered an explanation. Stick with the whole "disgusting fliers" thing, I'm sure people will decide their vote based on a mailer. Don't forget to selectively apply the Constitution, just ignore that cumbersome due process part when it comes to Martha Bark.
You want reform? Change? Then why on earth would you vote for someone who has nothing to show for his 12 years in Trenton? Thanks for the softball, you pathetic shills.
MasonStorm
Mason: Please tell us where on the ballot Genn Paulsen and Martha Bark's names are listed? I was trying to find them with no avail? And I asked my friends if they knew who they were - they had no idea. They didn't know who Stears was either. Go figure!
You guys fell into the same trap that the GOP all ways seems to fall into - No one cares about corruption!
Oh and this the final blow alright - the final blow to the worst run campaign in the Burlington County Democrats history. Hell, Gary Karr is making fun of you guys. Republicans will easily win this years election, pay off the debt and win next year also.
P.S. What happened to your network televison commercial? I haven't seen it in a week and a half.
I think we'll win this one for Martha!
Bye Bye!
Though posters like
Though posters like "YourFavoritePolitician" may think party bossism and corruption is perfectly fine when it is Republican, most of us would disagree and find such posturing disengenuous, particularly when said poster defends the work of Martha Bark.
One has to hand the 8th district Dems credit for getting this latest moment of Paulsen-Bark backing the Haines ticket out in the open. Outside of their many conflicts of interest (Rudder's father helping to hire Bark for her no-show jobs, Addiego stealing open space funds for hiring her relatives at Indian Springs, Haines and the lingering ethics complaint against him), this Republican ticket has a terrible record when it comes to making taxes higher, as Rudder showed in Medford and other such moments with bread-and-butter issues.
What I find disengenuous
You mischaracterizing my remarks. Luckily they are posted in their original form just above, you hack. Defense of Martha Bark or defense of due process? It's pretty clear which one I am standing behind. Feel free to cut and paste your same talking points again, perhaps the third time will be the charm. Also, I'm dying to hear how you and Republican for change can explain how a vote for someone who has been on the legislature for over a decade is a vote for reform. I'm guessing you won't get around to it though.
Simple really
It is pretty simple really:
The Democrats in Burlington County are ALL for the Constitution and the rights of defendants, if they happen to be suspected terrorists (Fort Dix) ...
But they oppose the fundamental right to be "innocent until prove guilty" (or at least freakin' charged with something) if you happen to be an elderly woman who has dedicated a great deal of her life to public service (Bark) ...
That is the choice for voters.
While driving through Burlington today
I saw a sign "Bucket of Golf Balls - $20" Fran must be having another fundraiser. Give him credit though, now that there is less sunlight on the courses these days, Bodine has been stepping up his campaign efforts making late night campaign calls. Let's hope those calls aren't being made from his legislative office located in a building he may have ownership in. Now I am no lawyer so I will leave the questions of legality for such hypotheticals (and they are just hypotheticals) to our good friend, Martin. Of course Camden County apparently has very liberal campaign laws governing them so Martin may not be too clear about Burlington which is not Camden, at least it won't be yet this election.
Sorry, Scottie
Sorry, Scottie, you're NOT my "FavoritePolitician" (yes, we know it's you). Now, let's take a look at YOUR record, over the last decade. Medford taxes are sky HIGH, the roads are OVERCROWDED, open space is DIMINISHING more and more each year.....the list goes on. And you're going to bring change to Trenton? Don't make me LAUGH!
Maybe your wife (you know, the ventriloquist) can write your next comment, because so far, you've made NO sense, whatsoever. One more thing, the next time you recruit flunkies to do your dirty work, make sure they have at least an eighth grade education; your current ones can't put sentences together, let alone spell.
I don't know about you, but THIS Republican is voting for CHANGE!
Scott Rudder
Is Scott Rudder the worst form of politician in the state? This is a person who has been joined at the hip with Boss Paulsen since day one, raised taxes nearly 50% while mayor in Medford, oversaw development to connected companies while mayor, appointed his campaign chair to the municipal court, and ensured that his father helped hire Martha Bark for her no show jobs at BCIT.
And this is who the Republicans say is a "reform" candidate for change. Thank goodness there's Addiego and her Indian Springs scandal, her helping with contracts for UBS PaineWebber (Boss Paulsen's son's company) while at the Evesham Board, and her help, along with Haines, ensured that the Strategy Group and Bob Stears continued to receive contracts for non-jobs for the Bridge Commission.
Bravo, indeed, 8th District Republicans. Bravo, indeed. At least Boss Paulsen and Bark have apologists like "YourFavoritePolitician" to defend their actions.
country clubs and Reagan
Perhaps the country club that resurrectingreagan was speaking of was Indian Springs? If so, please give my best to Addiego's relatives and friends who work there. Too bad the county voters continue to have to pay higher taxes for the Republicans' borrow-and-spend policies, this one from the open space trust fund.
And why would anyone want to resurrect Reagan in the first place? His failure as a president, from ignoring the AIDS crises to increasing national debt to his strain of fundamentalism on abortion, is cemented in history. And, of course, Reagan has already been resurrected: In the form of the current president, another abysmal failure, George W. Bush.
U cawt me!
Sorree I dint make sense in my last post. I fink dis langwich will soot u more better. Witch words wur misspelt? SHud I use more good gratooittus capitolisation? WIl dat HELP?
I don't know about you, but THIS guy above me needs to get finish his GED!
Seriously though, I'm glad you are trying to improve yourself.
RE: "U cawt me!"
Now, THAT'S the Scottie Rudder I know (Dan Quayle would be proud)! Maybe your wife has been writing your comments, all along.
I don't know about you, but THIS Republican is voting for CHANGE!
Is it me
Or is Rick Perr sounding more and more desperate.
Rick, buddy, you lost. Get over it.
You did not win Moorestown - Howard Miller lost.
You did not win Evesham - Gus Tamburro lost.
You did not win Mt. Laurel - that old lady lost just like that old man almost did.
You did not win the Surrogate seat - Vince lost.
You may have done a better job then some of your predecessors, but you are not that bright.
The reality is people were looking desperately for change. They had anti-Republican leanings due to Bush. People vented and you happened to be in the right place at the right time.
Your legacy will be picking the worst candidate for Senate candidate and losing everywhere you played. Your recent strategy is now obvious - attack Rudder in the hope of brining him down. Put when you are three days before election day and you have $6 in the account, I guess politicsnj is where you have to go.
The only person that had a chance was Riley. The moment you went with Bodine she should have backed out and run for Freeholder next year. Instead, she will lose this race and be so damaged you won't even win re-election.
Sad and pathetic - the Perr legacy.
Re: Scott Rudder
And at least Norcross has a hack like you. Thanks again for two paragraphs worth of speculation.
