By wjcarusoRep Andrews Urges Sanctions if North Korea Doesn’t End Missile Launches WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Rob Andrews (D-NJ), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, released the following statement regarding North Korea’s testing of medium and long-range missiles:
"In testing medium and long-range missiles, North Korea is once again threatening the security of Asia and the world. These missiles could now hit Japan, China and South Korea and, if tests are successful, would threaten the United States. It is intolerable for the international community to allow this hostile action to continue.
I believe that the U.S. must work with Japan and other nations in the region to impose strict sanctions against North Korea. Ending non-humanitarian aid to the regime would have a very serious impact on North Korea's already anemic economy and make it clear that the international community will not tolerate this action. The United Nations Security Council should also strongly condemn North Korea's missile launches and support economic sanctions if they do not end.
North Korea has repeatedly shown it does not respect diplomacy or cooperating with the international community. That is why I support the US working with other nations to economically isolate North Korea if it does not end its missile tests."
