VAN DREW A NO-SHOW AT LAST NIGHT’S CANDIDATES FORUM; CHOOSES CAMPAIGN STAFF OVER VOTING PUBLIC
(VINELAND, October 9) -- Senator Nick Asselta -- responding to Assemblyman Jeff Van Drew’s failure to appear last night at a candidate’s forum sponsored by Seth Grossman’s “Liberty and Prosperity” organization, so he could instead attend a “Grand Opening” of a Vineland campaign office that’s been functioning for a week – today slammed Van Drew for choosing his campaign staff over the voting public.
“Last night, 100 people gathered under the auspices of Seth Grossman’s ‘Liberty and Prosperity’ organization to hear me and Jeff Van Drew discuss our beliefs about how best to strengthen enforcement of laws against illegal immigration, whether or not the state should bond for another $450 million for embryonic stem cell research, and other constitutional questions on the fall ballot,” said Asselta. “I was happy to be in attendance and share my views with the audience. Sadly, Jeff apparently found it more important to skip this event -- for which he had confirmed his attendance -- so he could hang out with his campaign staff in Vineland.
“Last Friday, we read in the newspaper that Jeff’s running mates Nelson Albano and Matt Milam admit that they’re under the control of their Party bosses, and have no say in the campaign that’s being run on their behalf,” Asselta continued. “Last night, voters in the First District found out that when it comes to choosing between his campaign staff or his constituents, Jeff chooses his campaign staff. So let’s get this straight -- Jeff would rather meet with his campaign staff than share his views with his constituents, while Nelson and Matt essentially say they don’t know WHO is running their campaign. Go figure."
