VASQUEZ & BUONO PROUD OF RUNNING A CLEAN CAMPAIGN
Despite Being the Target of Personal and Deceptive Attacks,
Vasquez and Buono Rise Above
Democratic candidates for Burlington County Freeholder Amy Vasquez and Dean Buono are very proud to have led a clean campaign focused solely on the issues. They believe that voters will judge them for their commitment to a clean and ethically sound campaign.
Many residents of Burlington County have witnessed the misleading personal attacks launched by their Republican opponents, Dawn Addiego and Aubrey Fenton. Dawn and Aubrey's decision to campaign in this way shows the voters exactly what Dawn and Aubrey are: two people who will mislead and deceive in order to get what they want.
Amy Vasquez’s statement in response to Addiego and Fenton’s personal attacks against her:
My opponents know that I live with my family and thus do not own property. They have tried to portray me as an individual who is delinquent in paying her taxes. In truth, I have paid all my taxes in a timely manner.
New York State committed an error when they issued a tax warrant. New York vacated the warrant in an effort to correct their mistake. I knew nothing about it until Dawn and Aubrey issued these vicious TV commercials. Dawn and Aubrey were so desperate to defame my character that they had to hide the fact that the warrant had been vacated, as the order to vacate is attached to the warrant. I have no warrants. I owe no taxes. There was no settlement with New York because it was an error. I invite anyone who would like to research this matter to visit www.nystax.gov . You will find that my statements are true. I have also attached a letter from New York State that was provided to me last Friday when they learned that the documents were being misused. I will pursue every legal remedy available to me to right this wrong.
As I have met many residents in Burlington County, I have shared my background. I am a child advocate attorney. I represent abused and neglected children in family court. It has been my choice to serve as a public interest attorney. Before attending law school, I was a schoolteacher. I lived in Manhattan while working as an elementary and middle school teacher and while attending the City University of New York School of Law.
My mission and Dean's mission as freeholders is to cut wasteful spending so that there is actually a reduction in the tax bills. We have only spoken the truth by pointing out that the all-Republican freeholder board increased taxes by 11% this year and Dawn Addiego did not show to vote on the budget that increased taxes. We will never take a vote for granted and we will continue our commitment to run a clean campaign. No matter how outrageuos, deceptive and vicious their attacks may be, Dean and I will continue to run an issue-oriented, fact-based campaign. On Tuesday we will not only be victorious at the polls, but we will also have our integrity intact. To review our platform, please visit www.amyvasquez.com .
