West New York Mayor/outgoing Assemblyman Silverio "Sal" Vega, who lost a bloody state senate primary campaign against Union City Mayor Brian Stack, appears ready to bury the hatchet.
Tomorrow, Vega and Weehawken Mayor Richard Turner will hold a press conference in 56th Street and Blvd East in West New York to call for unity in the 33rd legislative district. Vega said that Turner will appear on behalf of Stack, U.S. Rep. Albio Sires and the rest of the rival Democrats for Hudson County.
But Vega said that he's not appearing on behalf of the Hudson County Democratic Organization.
"We’re going to work together for the good of not only the legislative district, but in the hope that this will lead to a peace or some type of understanding between all the elected officials in Hudson County," said Vega. “I’m not saying that I represent or that I speak for the HCDO, but I do speak for the town of West New York. This agreement is to put our legislative district back together, and then to encourage the rest of the elected official to come on board."
