Dick Zimmer’s campaign for the United States Senate suffered a setback last night when he lost a bid for the organization line in his home county. Hunterdon County Republicans voted 34-40 to keep Joe Pennacchio as their endorsed candidate, rather than switch to Zimmer, who represented Hunterdon as an Assemblyman, State Senator and Congressman from 1981 to 1996. Some insiders suggest that Zimmer’s defeat last night was more of a problem for longtime GOP County Chairman Henry Kuhl, who is expected to face a challenge for re-election in June against Mark Peck, the Mayor of Bloomsbury.

Back to the USSR Chairman must go!
It is time for a change in Hunterdon GOP.
Z-I-M-M-E-R is a L-O-S-E-R!
There is no way around spinning this other than Dick Zimmer LOST the vote last night in what should have been a slam-dunk for his campaign.
If I were Dick Zimmer, I would put my tail between my legs and head back home to Washington DC.
WHY DIDN'T SENATOR JOHN ENSIGN MAKE CALLS FOR DICK ZIMMER?
Heh Tom Wilson and the rest of you party boss bums; you still have a few hours to replace Dick Zimmer with another candidate? Since you are out of letters in your rolodex, perhaps the man formerly known as Prince will run (and he can self-finance).
Let's see what happens with Somerset County today? That would be a one-two punch loss for a LOSING campaign.
What is another word for loser? ZIMMER
Not off to a good start
Not off to a good start newly anointed one
no wonder andrews is running....
....the dems could probably put up ruprecht the monkey boy and compete against the hapless njgop!!!
Un-Kuhl
Kuhl has been around far too long to actually do the Hunterdon County GOP any good. Things that hang around that long start to look and smell funky. Peck would be a refreshing alternative and would shake up that moribund organization.
But that's another kettle of (stinky) fish. Zimmer is definitely preferable to Pistaschio/Pinnochio (he of the Corporatist/Fasicst/Nationalist Party); however, Sabrin is infinitely preferable to Zimmer in every possible way as well.
The Hunterdon County GOP poobahs predictably selected the LEAST acceptable candidate to take the party line in June.
I am not surprised in the least.
Dick Zimmer is NO Conservative
Slogans mean nothing, voting record means everything.
Check out Zimmer's 6 year voting record in Congress.
