There’s some buzz from the front office that Lisa Jackson, the Commissioner of Environmental Protection, could wind up as Governor Jon Corzine’s new Chief of Staff. Bradley Abelow is expected to leave after the budget is passed, and sources say that Michellene Davis, Corzine’s Appointments Counsel, is also a possible candidate for the top staff post.
A top Corzine advisor, Gary Rose, is leaving at the end of the month. And look for Deputy Chief of Staff Patti McGuire to leave at the end of the year.

Why not?
Jackson can be down the hall from the empty suit when she tells him what legislation to support. The most recent egregious example is the gutting of the Permit Extension Act, which now is a meaningless bill.
It will save Tittel a trip out to DEP HQ so these two idiots can continue the environmental extremism that is helping to choke this state.
Gary Rose Who?
What a LOSER and good riddance - He's gone already.
GuardRail Jonnie should take his whole USELESS - INEPT - BAND OF IDIOT'S back to Wall street with the rest of the losers.
This has been the worst group of CLOWNS to run this state since Grandpa Byrne.
lots of female candidates
would Patti McGuire leave at the end of the year if she was offered COS? What about Maggie Moran.
Poor Choice
I know that many love Lisa Jackson and applaud her stewardship at the DEP, but to small business owners and local municipal authorities, she is worse than Brad Campbell was (and he was pretty bad).
I'm not necessarily talking about blocking the bear hunt or refusing to find funding for State Parks/Lake Hopatcong/brownfields/et. al. or ram-rodding a somewhat-deficient state-energy master plan down everyone's throats either.
The DEP was once about protecting the environment, but today is more of a money making operation that hands out fines and penalties for the most idiotic violations. Not only that, but some of their measures to "protect" the environment are far from convincing. All they end up doing is overtaxes businesses, stepping all over local governments, and extorting money from folks. Are they planning on balancing the budget this way?
This has been going on for over a decade. I know the Jackson isn't to blame for all of it, but if she can cause this much damage from her perch at DEP, I can't imagine what she could really do as COS.
Would be best to leave this one alone. Invite back Shea or LaRue, promote Adam Zellner or Patti McGuire to COS, or look elsewhere - but Jackson would be a poor choice.

Bring back Jeanine Larue
She's head and shoulders above any of the rest of them you've mentioned. The problem is that Corzine listens to no one.
Pirate Power.
It's clear the Governor is thoughtful when making appointments(any and all). Again, there are hundreds of candidates for this position. Ms Davis has some skills and tools. If it's a fit... well? If not, there are the usual suspects. The Governor must decide(not who), but what is needed for the Chief of Staff to accomplish for the last part of this term, through the election cycle, and into his 2nd term. Then the choice is easy. Getting someone to accept the position will not be.
