The two possible ’09 gubernatorial candidates were on the campaign trail yesterday, both attending the swearing in of the recently elected members of the Jackson Township Council. Governor Jon Corzine administered the oath of office to Michael Kafton, and U.S. Attorney Christopher Christie swore in Michael Reina. While Jackson holds non-partisan elections, Kafton is a Democrat and Reina is a Republican.
Corzine and Christie went to different events earlier in the day. Corzine was in Orange, where Eldridge Hawkins, Jr. was sworn in as mayor, and Christie attended the inaugural ceremonies of Perth Amboy Mayor Wilda Diaz. U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg was in Orange (where Hawkins endorsed him in the primary) and Jackson, but skipped Perth Amboy (Diaz backed Rob Andrews in the primary.)
And Corzine’s potential running mate, Newark Mayor Cory Booker, travelled to Ocean County to attend the Jackson swearing in too.

waste of time
seriously.... what a waste of a day.
who cares who attended the Jackson Twp swearing in?
cc stern AND umdnj, ashcroft..includes but not limited to.
What did Dana Redd do yesterday? I'll bet that whatever Dana did, it wasn't for some plolitical gain.
every post of yours is basically the same thing...
Are you Dana Redd or do you have some crush on her?
And what's with the wierd obsession with Ashcroft and Christie?
Booker will not run for LG.
I wish Politicker would stop pushing bad information. Booker is not running nor will Corzine pick him for Lt. Governor.
The chances of Corzine not even seeking re-election are more possible than a Booker statewide bid.

Jackson Re-org Meeting
Corzine, Lautenberg, Christie, and Booker all sat next to each other.
I shook everyone's hand later during the 5 minute recess that went on for half an hour. I asked Christie if he was going to run for governor. He said "I shouldn't say anything when he [Corzine] is in the room. He also told me he promised the President he would finish out the term.
Pretty much, from what I could tell is that he is seriously considering it.

It is very difficult to predict the future. Even after the pundits were correct about the former governor of NY's resounding victory, the truth was lurking in the shadows. The next governor of NJ may surprise some people...even the spinmeister from Clark.

Come off it...These swearing in ceremonies take place well after business hours...
MCGRATH SUMS UP WHY CORZINE IS IN TROUBLE...(POLITICALLY)
"The governor is focused on serious budget reforms that will restore fiscal integrity to state finances, not next year's election," McGrath said. "He'll be in a strong position for re-election no matter whom the Republicans nominate. But the other Republican candidates might want to get equal time on CNN if Mr. Dobbs runs."
Nice work, Rich...way to sum up the problem: Corzine is politcally tone deaf.
