GOP competes in 14th

Two Republicans on the Hamilton Township Council are expressing interest in running for the State Assembly in 2009, creating a potential fight between Tom Goodwin and Kelly Yaede for the support of the GOP organization in the fourteenth district. The two want to challenge incumbents Linda Greenstein and Wayne DeAngelo.

Goodwin lost a bid for the Assembly in 2007.

By tradition, Republicans give one Assembly nod to Mercer County and the other to Middlesex County – although no Middlesex Republican has won the seat since Barbara Wright in 1997.

How bout both?

Screw the Middlesex candidate deal, they won't win anyway.

If there is not a Middlesex GOP Candidate the GOP will lose

2/3rds of the population - and registered voters - in the 14th Legislative District are in Middlesex County. Without a Middlesex candidate - especially with Middlesex County's Linda Greenstein running - will mean the Dems will roll up even more votes in Middlesex, swamping an all Mercer GOP ticket.
