Should have been Pennacchio.
Let's not make the same mistake in 2009.
I second that
You are right Mountaintop. .... And we can only hope - and do everything we can to make sure - we don't make the same mistake next year.
Don't let the NJGOP try to force a "moderate" candidate like Christie or Crowley down our throats. While they may be good guys, and good in their current positions, that just means they should stay where they. Niether are the candidate we need.
AH can you help me?
You call Christie and Crowley "moderates." I know there are lots of us looking for information on the policy positions of the potential candidates that might lead one to the kind of label you throw around. Can you point us toward the information that led you to conclude they are "moderates."
Slim pickings
"none of the above" ?
Sure GOPanimal
Christie is on the record as being pro-abortion and in favor of anti-second amendment gun control legislation. He also allowed tax increases and more government growth than required while a Freeholder. This isn't even mentioning his pandering to the pro-illegal alien crowd back in April when he said illegal immigrants did not commit a crime. ... and this is just for starters.
As for Crowley, he has no experience in public office, but his comments around the time of the convention were in line with the big government expansion (that requires more spending) agenda. He has also been a big advocate of higher government spending and handouts to his company that is also a leading recipient of them. ... and if you read the book about him it is telling of his likely ideology.
AH?
Crowley is pro life as well as pro 2nd Amendment. How can you justify calling him a liberal? Of course, you must me a Lonegan loser who will support only the purest conservative candidates. Do not attack a man who hasnt even decided whether or not hes running. If he runs, much like Cristie and Lonegan, we can attack their records and decide who will be our best candidate for Governor. Assemblyman Merkt is the only announced candidate. Lets stick to the people who are running.
Nobody was "forced" down our throats..
Republican primary voters chose Zimmer, if you want to blame anyone blame them. Don't give me the "establishment" nonsense when county lines were basically tied and people jumped the line in Hunterdon and Somerset to support Zimmer. That's a damn excuse for a poorly run campaign and you know it, if a candidate is good enough they can convince people to jump the county lines, especially with an incredibly low turnout election. Pennacchio was just a bad campaign in action, his turnout in his home county wasn't even close to being good and some conservatives thought he was "big government" and backed Murray or stayed home. He couldn't even convince conservatives aand he has a strong conservative record! That's got bad candidate written all over it.
He'd be down by 15-20 against Frank.
Let's face it nobody would win, Kyrillos would be the best challenger probably.
You apparently weren't reading rockville
Where in my comments did I say 'liberal?' Also, where in my comments about Crowley did I mention the life or 2nd amendment issue? I mentioned those in relation to Christie. ... Also, those aren't the only issues that differentiate conservatives, Republicans and liberals. (And where did you get that information about Crowley? But, if Crowley does run, we will see what you mean by "pro-life" and "pro-second amendment")
However, you are right when you say we can attack records and debate the issues of those who seek office and everyone will decide who they think is the best candidate, but also don't forget that there is a lot more that must come into play when someone doesn't have a public record. .... So you have to look at a lot of things and, as for Crowley, as I said ... the book on him is telling.
But, you have to read what people say - and not make things up as your comment does - so there can be an honest debate.
Jersey Joe was the man for 08
In a year that the average Jersey Joe is losing his shirt, his job and his house, due to the Liberal Greed and taxpayer handouts of the past. Joes message would have got more traction. End of Story
The Gop would have rejected Christ
because he wasn't self funded!
I beg to differ
I think Estabrooks would of been the best competition. She can match Lautenberg's money, and was creating a strong buzz very early. She never got to run.
Penn did get a chance, and not only didnt he get the county lines; he lost. I hope he doesn't try to run against Menendez, that would be brutal for him.
Mountaintop
It looks like you endorsed Pennacchio for Governor.
