Correction: Weiner departure was not his own idea

A PolitickerNJ.com report last month that Scott Weiner was retiring as head of the New Jersey Schools Development Authority was incorrect, and with apologies to our readers, this website offers a correction: while Weiner said that he was leaving because he thought it was time for the embattled school construction agency to hire a CEO who would commit to long term service, he was effectively fired.  Gov. Jon Corzine, according to sources familiar with the events, asked Weiner to leave.  The former Commissioner of Environemental Protection was allowed to issue a public statement giving the impression that his departure was on good terms.

Other news organizations also reported that Weiner's decision to leave his post was his own.

Stay Classy Trenton

Why didn't Corzine's people say so at the time?

If the departure truly wasn't on Weiner's terms, then Corzine's people didn't seem to have much interest in correcting public perception a month ago.

How sweet of them to now take credit for canning the guy. Classy move.

Thank God the loser is leaving!!!!!

Scott Weiner = Poltical Hack Supreme.
The most arrogant and pretentious hack that you could meet!!!
No business or construction background and after SCC spends hundreds of thousands of dollars of doing a NATIONAL seach for a CEO, to claim that no one has the knowledge, breath and experince to run SCC/SDA as dear old Scott Weiner.
Maybe he can now go the Port Authority and screw things up over there with his hack girlfriend that he had working with him at SCC/SDA a little while back.

I still say

Corzine has one of the worst political shops of all times. Why didn't they let this guy, whom I don't know and have no opinion of, save face. Especially in this economy! What was served by letting this out now? Is Corzine really running for reelection? I hope he hires a new team of grownups!
