Assemblywoman Pam Lampitt is privately telling friends that she will not seek the 6th district State Senate seat that will be vacated by Congressman-elect John Adler. Lampitt, entering her fourth year in the Assembly, has a strong relationship with Speaker Joe Roberts and sources suggest she would be a frontrunner for a committee chairmanship next session.
Lampitt's running mate, Assembly Budget Committee Chairman Louis Greenwald, has also decided against running for the Senate. Some Democrats believe Adler's seat could go to South Jersey AFL-CIO President Donald Norcross, the brother of one of the state's most powerful Democrats.

Donald Norcross Should Take it
It is time that Don Norcross reap some of the benefits of the GOTV and overall Democratic organization that he helped build in Camden County.
He would be an excellent State Senator.
Of course this would be a nightmare for Dick Codey , but it would be a great plus for South Jersey.
oh yeah great plus..
The brother of the number 1 corrupting influence in south jersey as a state senator..
Hey why didnt they run him for Congress anyway? Was it because people were weary of the obvious link to corruption?
Andrews
No, it's because Andrews wanted his seat back. Anyone in column two could have won there.
candidates
I'm open to considering Donald Norcross on his own terms, that is, as a union leader and Democratic party leader, rather than the brother of George. If there's anything learned from the Andrews shuffle in the 1st district, though, it is that a fair, transparent process must be made in electing any official to replace Adler. We can't make the same mistake we made with Andrews' on-and-off again candidacy.
Lampitt has already done good work in the Assembly, though the ultra-liberal in me disagrees with her stance on disallowing the Cherry Hill porn store. If it isn't Greenwald or Lampitt, then only an ambitious Camden County freeholder, if anyone, would stand in the way of Donald Norcross' candidacy. I'm sad to be losing Adler as my state senator but thrilled beyond belief that he is the next congressman in the adjoining district.
Answer to backwardsjersey
Corruption? What corruption? Name one thing that George Norcross has done illegal. Just one . You can't.
You sound like one of those phony Republicans who just say things and are never held accountable.
George NOrcross has done more good for South Jersey then you or tem of your types will ever do. Donald Norcross is involved with United Way and many other charities that help a lot of people.
You ? What have you ever done except throw mud?
firstamend07
he's got a point
i can't phony attacks.
if its reliable then its ok but making stuff up
is really annoying. I also wanted to point out that backwardsjersey has yet to respond
I don't respond to..
Obvious union members or leaders whose job probably depends on Norcross.
If you can't see his corruption than you're as blind as a bat.
Read The Soprano State.
It may be technically legal, but he's been the king of wheeling in New Jersey. You ever wonder how Adler raised so much money for his congressional bid and Van Drew/Whelan raised so much money last year? The contractors in South Jersey who wanted to keep their businesses in tow were smart to pony up. I'm not saying they didn't get individual donations, but I'm sure you'd find a long list of businesses that make their money off of government steered contracts and pay-to-play.
Just to make this bi-partisan, he's no better than Gilmore.
I'm uneasy about the thought of his brother in the state senate, and I guarantee you some good government ethics-minded liberals would agree with me.
