In office for just three days, Assemblyman Jay Webber has already started to shake things up in Trenton. During a meeting of about twenty Republican legislators and Governor Jon Corzine on Friday, Webber reportedly asked Corzine if he was being a hypocritical in asking for a toll increase without any proposals to cut spending. Some veteran Republicans in the room seemed a little taken aback by Webber’s brashness.

Did you ever notice whenever the Democrats talk about NJ budget woes, its always about how we are going to raise more revenues - not how do we cutting spending? Here is an idea, eliminate public assistance and welfare and we will have no need for illegal aliens to come here and do the jobs that American's won't do. Why won't they do these jobs, you ask? Thanks to Lyndon Johnson, we live in a welfare state!
Keep it up Jay - I think you are on to something!
Will Webber be a One Termer
If he is behaving like this now, he probably won't work well within his caucus and in the Assembly. Will he last past this term?
Good for him!!
Like a good conservative, he's looking to CUT SPENDING rather than Raising taxes which this would be. Call it a toll, a fee - whatever you want - it's a tax!
Jerseyguy - in case you didn't know, his colleagues aren't the ones that elected him!! He's watching out for his constituents - the ones that DID elect him.
Depends on your point of view ...
When a Democrat does it, the press says he or she is candid, when a Republican does it, the press says he or she is brash ...
Haha!
That is awesome! Jay is going to be a shining star for Republicans in this state. It's time to mount some real oppostion to this insanity.
Jay Webber
Apparently the rule is that new members of the Legislature are supposed to kiss the Governor's butt. It appears that Webber is kicking Corzine's. GO JAY!!!
I can loan you some size 12 Timberlands if you need them.
Congrats
Webber obviously has the guts that not enough politicians have. Congratulations Mr. Webber! You're off to a great start.
